We subscribe to GDC and I just loaded their program as a test subject on my blackberry. Very nice. I don't get radar (at least not yet) but I do get full METAR/TAF/NOTAM/D-ATIS/METRO, etc. I can even run flight plans and get my PDC on it.
Try flightplan.com. They have a PDA installation...
In my experience and in knowing many chief pilots, I'd be very cautious about making cold calls. At Fortune flight departments a good secretary won't let you get to the chief pilot in most cases.
If cold calls are you game, first I'd have mailed a resume. So many flight departments don't...
Anyone of them are good. FSI, SimuFlite, ATI. I heard Dave Stohr (ATI) at the NBAA International Ops Conference this year and his presentation was one of the best out there. You hear nothing but good comments about his organization.
There is another new one offereing int'l procedures...
First and foremost, go to a good international procedures course! Otherwise, no biggie. Obviously you have ETPs to consider, survival equipment, HF communications and so on. Otherwise it's just like flying in the states, just covering a lot of water with few alternates should something go...
If you have time, try Uncle Julio's in FTW. Some of the finest mexican north of the border! If you're not in the mood for Mexican, I recommend the quail!
There is also a newer place right on the corner going into the stockyards and the name escapes me now (my 10th day in Europe will do that...
...are rusty so hopefully others will verify/correct any mistake I might make.
You do have to insert a new waypoint in the FPL. To do so, enter ABC* (or *ABC). This will bring up the radial/distance page. Enter the items required and insert into FPL. Then go to VNAV page, select ABC* and put...
You name it.
1. American Airlines Museum
2. FTW Center tour
3. Book Depository and site of Kennedy assination.
4. Dallas Alley (it's been years since I've been there but it was a great place to have a cold one.
5. Fort Worth Zoo
6. Golf courses all over the place.
7. If you're into the...
So are you saying let the rest of the world accept a certain standard but we in the U.S. are too good for someone elses idea? It's no wonder with an attitude like that we're frowned upon in parts of the world.
Secondly, the rest of the world accepts the new standard but since we don't we'll...
Well, I didn't mean THAT close!!! However, reduced entrail has evolved in the NOPAC and N. Atlantic. With ADS-B and FANS A/B around the corner you'll see entrail come even closer.
RVSM has nothing to do with who sells what. Its a capacity issue. Allowing reduced separation both vertically and horizontally means more aircraft in a given piece of airspace, plain and simple.
It All Depends...
What are your goals down the road? SWA? Any Airline? Corporate?
There are companies out there that offer a Citation type rating for about the same price as a 737 type. I don't think having a 737 type carries the stigma that it once did, simply because of the turmoil many...
I have never heard the FAA turn over any jurisdiction to the local cops, especially over something so silly as a registration! Maybe if you were seen hauling coke or a bale of weed, theft of an aircraft, but a registration? I wonder if someone at the Class C airport didn't call "airport watch"...
My brother-in-law and I were talking about this last week. From what I hear, it can be harder to get a medical back from kidney stones than heart problems. As you've found out, it can double you over and be just as incompacitating and until the AME/FEDs feel you won't have anymore, it could be...
Widely reported in todays paper and national news (FoxNews). They used a B747 painted "similar" to AF1 and actors (guards). The makers comments was "I wanted to make a cultral statement."
Apparently the video raised quite a storm at DHS and Secret Service, not to mention the USAF.
