Any home based business success stories out there?

Wait another year or so. I bet there will be hundreds of thousands of foreclosures as interests rates go up and people aren't able to climb out of their I/O mortage debt. And with the new BK laws, people can't declare BK as easily, further making their situation more dire. The problem...

SkyWest takes Delta for Everything It's Got

I'm glad you had the foresight to go to Delta back in the day. Congrats. Unfortunately, I graduated college 2 year after 9/11, and for the last 5 years or so the industry has been in the sh11ter and lowly "feeder" guys probably won't ever get a shot at mainline. I'm glad you are happy making...

    mesa upcoming classes

Almost every time I went to phoenix in a bonanza they always called us a king air. I guess flying final at 152 knots throws 'em off a bit...ah the memories... ~wheelsup

anyone heard from AWAC interview yet?

I saw our Jepp chart person the other day in CLT non-reving and she said they are having 2 classes a month, 24 people in each class, for the next three months or so. She doesn't know about hiring after that. According to her, a bunch of indy guys signed up for it at the dulles job fair. ~wheelsup

    PFT... It DOES work!

It's funny you picked that quote, that was the guy on the van! When I saw him the first thing that popped into my mind was ex-gulfstreamer, and that was before I found out he worked for pinnacle....

how do the training contracts work?

I singed a 12 month contract as a CFI and stayed until the end of my contract. If I can do that, you can surely stay at a regional flying a 1900. Furlough, firing, or loss of medical will release you from the contract. If you leave because you simply can't afford to stay, that's your problem...

    Jelly Vs. Jam

I got away from Jelly and only eat Jam with peanut butter. Jam seems more flavorful and has the same amount of calories. Ahh, debating the finer points in life... ~wheelsup

    new low for pinnacle

Interesting. Not according to the people I talked to at CAE... ~wheelsup EDIT: Is it per diem or full guarantee you are talking about? EDIT #2: Thanks for clearing that up bean - I was under the impression from some @ CAE that they did not.

    new low for pinnacle

I think this is pretty standard for the regionals. AWAC is the only one that I know of that is single occupency and full pay from day 1, and no training contract. I'm sure there are others (like comair and horizon) but I'm not 100% sure. It could be worse; atleast those pinnacle guys don't have...

    Schedule at Air Wisconsin

I've been based in ORF since Nov. 1 (when it opened). I finished OE on Nov. 22, and have been in ORF on reserve since Dec. 1st. I will be 3 from a line holder in Feb, and will be a line holder March 1st. I would imagine time on reserve will go down in the next few months as they hire 50/people a...

    Cape Air Washout Rate......High

I believe they must have a working autopilot OR an SIC to fly pax. Most of the time it's an autopilot, but I have known a few select people who were hired there as standby sic's - they were ramp workers though as well. ~wheelsup

cargo job in a jet for a 1200hr pilot

This guy could work for eagle? Don't they have a base in PR and MIA? I'm not sure how junior MIA is but I'd think it would be possible...it's possible he's telling the truth about not "working" for GIA... ~wheelsup

    Pilots and their CELLPHONES

You're right, it's totally gone off on another tangent. I agree, the time saved is incredible by using the cell phone. If everybody in the pilot group stopped using their cell for a month management would certainly take notice. Short of doing that, there isn't much that can be done. If anything...

    Pilots and their CELLPHONES

Oh ok, next time I will send smoke signals to the hotel for a pick up, or I suppose I could just sit around and wait for another crew to call? That's be swell in the -40C Canadian winter :). And I won't save $1.45 in taxes. I will deduct the $1.45 from my income, which will reduce the tax I...

    Pilots and their CELLPHONES

I don't agree with your assumption that it should come out of per diem, and neither does the US Government. http://www.gsa.gov/Portal/gsa/ep/contentView.do?faq=yes&pageTypeId=8203&contentId=16365&contentType=GSA_OVERVIEW#1 Ok, so per diem includes lodging, meals, and incidental expenses. What...
