Yeah, that whole economies of scale concept is such a drag, huh?

No, it's called keeping revenue for themselves, and limiting extra supply, to keep fares higher. Consolidation helps with that. Have you also noticed the lack of gate space at most European and American airports? The US/AA merger is causing a scramble for "real estate" at Major US Airports. Nobody wants to give a gate away. But, I'm sure the Gulf Carriers can expand a lot into the deepest parts of Africa. I think EK hasn't added Yaounde, Cameroon yet. Go for it Fairview! Then, add a Douala hub! Instant growth for you guys. Enjoy that!

Emirates committed to 200 new aircraft, Qatar, 100, and Etihad 50....EK also had 50 options.

Who is going to fly all of these planes, combined with MASSIVE current orders in Asia, and the orders elsewhere???

The ones that are offered the money...! Simple as that..! I'm getting bombarded by "updates" in T&C'S on a weekly basis it seems. The expat pilot's market will get very interesting in the next 5 years...!

If you talk to a lot of guys on these boards, you aren't getting those adverts, because there is a massive surplus of pilots and no jobs anywhere....plus China will provide all of it's own pilots in the very near future...and will provide thousands of pilots to the US when the US airlines sell out to the Chinese...

Not going anywhere...the last few years have been a hell of a ride...looks like its going to continue.

Also being bombarded with 777 LHS job vacancies through the agencies.

Good news all round.

And where will all of the limited gate space come from, especially in the US?

RJ kind of operation out of Dubai to India, Pakisistan and China

They should consider the Fixed Gear option since they will fly those on short segments like the Japanese did with the 747s

Lock the Gears and fly one hour segments.

You must fly between small, rural airports.... But, there is plenty of room for new A380s within Africa. I think an hourly shuttle between Douala and Abidjan would be perfect.

Not all these aircraft are net growth. I know it sounds crazy, but Emirates is actually retiring 777-200s and I believe the -300s. The -200ER/LRs and 300-ERs are staying long term. On the Airbus side, it sounds like they are retiring all their A340s, both -300s and -500s. Just something to keep in mind because these new planes will not be all net growth.

I know you may like to think you're the centre of the planet but the USA accounts for less than 5% of the world's population. EK has plenty of places to go you sad narcissist.
