The west already flies 24% of east flying. So I guess that provision is checked...
Must suck sitting on the sidelines watching the east recapture its attrition.. Whadda ya say westies..Lets get a joint CBA, your DFR suit will then be ripe, then you guys/gals have a shot at winning the mystical award called Nic.
Things are moving quite fast. In two years there will be low hanging fruit for EVERYONE!! Lets ger er done..
..If not, just remember that time is on OUR side..

Per the transistion agreement, all new (growth) aircraft will be staffed equally by both east and west pilots..

Just so you all know....
The main reasons for the swell in hiring and new positions in the East is because of 1) retirements and 2) the training float for replacing 737s with Airbii. True there is some also for the new A330s and more 190s... I'm sure Doug will release a West bid soon.

Um, I guess you didn't know that we did, in fact, negotiate with each other and then agreed to let an arbitrator settle it. That should've been the end of the story, right? Or is it greedy and dumb to actually expect both sides to live up to their agreement?

It's been 5 years and its gone to the SCOTUS. No dice. No court will interfere with an internal union dispute. And no court will interfere with company/union negotiations.

Enjoy the movement out East, lots of old F/O's retiring at $85/HR. with 21 days vacation and little or no CX pay...The dream of all pilots in the industry!!! The East controls when to move off LOA 93, till then seperate ops., but the NIC. is never going away....I got twenty years to go, plenty of time to bypass till getting a nice line....

This latest bid had 29 retirements. A relatively low number compared to what's coming. Of those retirements, 25 were Captains and only 4 F/O's...

Also this bid has 96 Captain vacancies (only 9 in the 190). So those old F/O's are all upgrading. And the F/O's right behind them are moving into the 75/76 and the 330 positions. All those F/O positions pay more than any West equipment. So almost 100 new Captains and massive movement into the widebodies... That's just on ONE bid! Many more bids to come soon, probably with even greater movement...

So I think we are ok with separate ops... Even Dave Odell is on the Airbus in DCA with over 179 pilots below him company wide. Add to that the 133 un-filled positions on this bid and he will have 312 pilots below him by March. He missed the 767 by 44 numbers. The next bid could see him flying to Europe in a 767, something not available to him in PHX. And that is on a 2008 DOH. I'm sure he would like a DOH seniority list to move him up to a 2005 DOH. But ya never know...

Will they staff the 6 open 737 FO positions in PHL? 7 lines of flying and 22 FO's leaves 15 guys on reserve. Hope they do, I like flying once a month (or less, that's fine with me too).

Why isn't anyone on the east demanding that a contract be put out to vote on. You have the numbers to pass it, right? The only folks holding you back from a better contract is YOU!

But you are quite right about the DFR hammer falling once the contract is passed. The courts have not addressed whether they would get involved in an internal dispute or not. They just haven't had anything to rule on since there is no tangible evidence of damages until the contract is signed. So hide in your bunker and starve, who cares.

Hint: anyone under 50yrs of age at the USEast subsidiary of AWA. They will find that the west will have a very long memory.

Doug is not negotiating with the pilots at USAir. He has been too busy over at AA and frankly why would he ever want a new contract here, unless it would make him more money? Separate ops is not a problem. All airline models have multiple groups of different pilots on different contracts in different bases, all flying the same color planes for the same collection of customers.

Complaints, threats, lawsuits, and more threats has not forced Doug to deliver a contract to vote on, and he will get around to a contract when he is ready. Meanwhile, considering the available alternatives he is content with things just the way they are moving along.

Its just reality. It is what it is. Light a stogie and sip an iced beverage.
