Question/statement for the Continental pilots. Over here on the UAL side of the operation, almost all of us (except out scabs and other non-members) wear our ALPA pin on our tie. In fact, if one sees a United pilot not wearing an ALPA pin on their tie, it's very likely he is a scab or non-member. Do you guys do the same?

Further, whether you guys do it or not, I think we all (except non-members/scabs) should have the pin on our tie, going forward once the merger is complete. Order those pins if you don't have one already!

***For the flightinfo members that hate ALPA......no need to post here. I already know ALPA sucks, Prater is on the till collecting a 7 figure salary, all ALPA reps. do nothing but take ALPA drops, and ALPA only cares about dues, etc., etc.

It's a mixed group here. I've flown with guys who don't wear the pin; some are scabs, some are not. You have to understand, there are more than a handful of guys with scab mentality who are not technically scabs. I've also flown with scabs who claim to be the most unionistic(is that a word?) people at the company and have ALPA pins/stickers anywhere they can put it. Overall, this is one area that will improve with the merger; more real unionists, less company saviors.

As a line pilot for CAL, I agree and welcome any "influence" UAL guys can give to those pilots who have not chosen to support their fellow pilots by wearing their pin.

I carry extra pins with me at all times. There is never a jumpseater or fellow crew member that does not leave without a pin.

Of course, a clicker or two can be a good thing!

He-He I think the clickers are all gone :) Nowadays, they probably would sue and win for discrimination or other such nonsense. I carry extra pins, too.

I'm not holding out the UA pilots as some sort of perfect example of unionism or anything, but guys who don't wear their pins in ops and such usually get a bit of a cold shoulder. We have guys, just like you guys, who wear a pin but hardly think about any union beyond that. But it's nice to see who you're dealing with when you're down in ops or leaving for a trip or whatever. I hope this small tradition carries on after we integrate.

Like the previous poster said, a mixed bag. I've flown w/ guys that don't wear the ALPA pin but wear every pin the company gives out (longevity, Star Alliance, etc). I've also flown w/ scabs that have 20 year pins.

It will be interesting b/c the mother ship(ALPA National) "forgave" the scabs so that they would vote ALPA on property. We also have some scabs who have since become the good "unionist" by becoming UDOs and other volunteer positions as well as holding the line on some things that are allowed by the CBA, but are detrimental to our group and the furloughs, while non-scabs pick up FO open time for 150% pay the month before the furloughs.

I wear my ALPA pin and my red FUPM bracelet. I've run out of extras but I do have some of the "Get Serious" ID backers.

I'm honestly more concerned w/ each pilot group holding the line on our scope section than I am ALPA pins, though.
