Three questions about the Q-400 trim and deice system.

That is seriously f'd up. The guy is just saying stuff for the express purpose of generating blood pressure. Like the "church" that goes around hating dead American soldiers.
He has no idea wtf he is talking about:

He had a total number of 3,379 flight experience hours, including time flying a smaller Saab jet, which requires the pilot to pull up in a stall, as opposed to pushing forward in the Dash 8. The choice to let him fly the Dash 8 turned out to be a fatal one. I hope whoever made the choice is happy with that."

This Michael Crook guy is despicable to say the least. He claims to be an ordain minister. It's just a game to him and he apparently gets off upsetting and pissing others off. Everyone needs to stay away from his site. This is the only way he gets attention and he thrives on it. He probably lives in his parents basement.

Ummmmm I don't know how about the first three paragraphs making it look like they violated the rules by flying with autopilot. The general public will take "guidelines" as a regulation and say they violated them by flying with autopilot on in icing.

I don't know. Maybe I overreacted to it. I am sick as hell with the flu. Most people won't read past the first 5 paragraphs of an article like that.
 
Maybe it was a split flap condition, and the ice had nothing to do with it. It was dark and they were I think only 1500 agl. Little time for recovery from an upset.

I thought of that but wouldn't the ntsb know that by now? My other thought was one engine involuntarily going into Beta. Then I thought the NTSB would know that already. Also neither explains the straight pitch up that happened. It should have rolled first I would think. I have read about two accidents in the Q400 where the engine went into Beta on its own. But I doubt that is the case here. Maybe the Q400 drivers can shed some light on this.

To me though it seems that the flaps coming down did something to the airflow to create a downward force on the horizontal stabilizer that was most likely full of ice for some reason. I say some reason cause the deice system must have been jacked.

The plane was also going very slow and should not have been that slow from what a few Q400 drivers have told me in private (yes people are trying to help me help the crew). So I wonder how much ice could have built up on the flaps or gears to add just enough weight to stall it. At that low airspeed it wouldn't take much more extra weight.

As many will now say to this..we shouldn't speculate and it will be in the NTSB report. Yea, we know...in a year!

If you were an airline pilot, you'd understand that we're not supposed to speak to anyone when an accident occurs, whether we're the crew in question or not.
It doesn't matter that we're on some web board speaking behind screen name to hide our identities. We have the tact and understanding that there is a time and place for everything, and giving a guy like you any answers here on FI.com is not the time nor place.
You alone are not going to stop all the media outlets from reporting the crap they do. In the end, you are not the editor, and you don't give them the info that sells.
Just stop. Maybe one of the mods could lock this thread to stop this internet whooping you are taking.

What problem? Your looking for a problem with the Q400, why not let the NTSB do that?

I don't give a rats as... to who you are. I know for a fact you're no one special because people who actually use that line "You dont know who I am" are no one. If you were anyone special, you wouldnt take the time to respond to every single persons post on here.

LOL ok! ha! ha! As I said before I am sick with the flu. So, I am just watching tv with the computer here and every time this board updates my iphone goes off and tells me I have email. I don't really care what you think of me. Really, I don't. So if you have no clue about the Q400 then why even comment? Why not just shut up and talk about whatever you fly or flew on the appropriate thread? Whatever, go ahead and be a hater. Oh and when i feel better which I hope is tomorrow you won't see much of me on here except to check my pm's from the people that are trying to help.
 
As I am typing this Shepard Smith just said the ntsb is focusing on the pilots action.

I know Shep and he will not be unfair to the crew members or anyone else for that matter. They are just updating the public on the progress of the investigation as relayed to them by the NTSB rep's.
This is going to take a while, hopefully we will all learn something from this that will make us all safer pilots.
