This is the SWA Pool thread. I.E., for folks who are waiting for a job. I seriously doubt if there is any sympathy for your plight here, fella. Take it somewhere else.

How you made it through the interview process with an attitude like that is amazing... You're going to fit in here like OJ's glove in an LA court! Seriously though, try to enjoy life a little more. It is short enough as it is... klr

Not looking for sympathy just where the next class is going for their hardlines.

If you can't keep it positive then Suck it poser.

My SWA buddy told me that he read in the "industry news" part of his union newspaper that the company might even cut capacity. Not sure if you guys had heard that or not. Wouldn't that mean no new classes? Ironically, he also said that the load factor was higher this Jan than last Jan.

I don't really get it. I guess you poolies should just be glad you aren't DAL or NWA poolies. I'm not even sure that their pool dates would be honored after a merger (we can only assume that the junior folks at those places will be looking for work).

I was wondering if Southwest might change its name to South~west.

Then, when they are celebrating "company culture" with their "company cheer," they can do the little "squiggle" thing, like the rednecks at Wal~mart do.

Only fitting for the Wal~mart of the skies...

Excuse me while I weep for the poor geezers that can't make the transition to the fractionals and would rather hold up the careers of those that are coming behind them at SWA. [/sarcasm]

But it is okay for them to go and hold up the careers of those coming in behind them at fill in the blank fractional.

That's not holding up anyone's career. They would be on a level playing field there. SWA is giving them an unfair advantage. They are jumping ahead of everyone else that has already been placed in the pool a while ago. I have no problem with them getting hired somewhere, but they need to get hired just like everyone else and not jump ahead of anyone.

How about how you held up pilot careers and dragged down all pilots as you paid to fly around in the right seat of the 1900 at Gulfstream. Oh, thats right, you were young and just plead stupid on the matter.

>>>>SWA is giving them an unfair advantage. They are jumping ahead of everyone else that has already been placed in the pool a while ago.<<<<

They worked hard for SWA and helped make them a success and also paid in thousands of dollars to SWAPA, something "everyone else" hasn't, so they deserve to go first in line. Nothing "unfair" at all in that. Matter of fact, it's very fair. Apparently some of you guys act like you think SWA is some sort of charity instead of a business and they can hire who they want and do what they want.

I know if you are in the pool you may feel as if the company owes you a swift hire date but really you should know a little history. There was a time in SWA's past when furloughs were announced and were about to take place, but the "old geezers" you so dispise took an hours cut to ensure the young FO's working would not be cut. I think you can just look at this as pay back for their generosity in the past. Suck it up you will be here sooner or later. If you don't think you are getting a fair deal and you are already whining, go somewhere else. I have no desire to fly with a bunch of spoiled brats that are set to whine at the least bit of adversity. You gotta be tough to fly light twins here at SWA.

As a poolie, of course it took a little bit of the wind out of my sails when Age 65 passed. The thing to realize now is that it is now LAW. End of story, no questions asked. These guys who are coming back are doing nothing less than excercising rights offered to them by the law--there is no use in even questioning it--nobody crossed a picket line here and nobody lost their job as a result. Everyone of these Age 60+ guys/gals that came back had their own unique reason for doing so and it's not up to us to question their motives for exercising their rights. The argument that they should be working at a place like NetJets isn't a valid one in my mind--why should they "take the spot" of another qualified pilot who's first choice is NetJets and has no desire to work for SWA?

Benhuntn--Thanks for pointing out that these are the same people who protected the younger pilots from furlough in the past. These are also the same dues-paying SWAPA pilots who held up in a time when all other airlines were cutting pay and got an industry leading contract. Sure, I wish that none of them had decided to come back, but the fact that they are is just a small blip on the radar when you take into consideration the time span of an entire career, and I hope that everyone of us in the pool gives them the respect they deserve when and if we ever meet one of them. I hope that those of you who currently work at SWA don't think of those of us in the pool as ungreatful whiners--if anything, we're just extra eager to join the family and are nervous that one more factor may be thrown into the equation to delay that further. I guarantee you that if classes were running 50 a month, you'd see barely a mention of the issue on this thread.

What industry leading contract? You might have industry leading pay rates for the 73 but do you even have a contract? As far as I can tell you operate under some sort of "book of rules" where much is nebulous and not defined. I'm not so sure that is a contract. Sure these old geezers have the right to come back - by law as you say. Of course they would have the right to cross a picket line...by law also (the law part are your words). They re-arranged the deck chairs in the middle - there's no other way to look at it. And the SW Age 60+ guys are the WORST - they are primarily the culprits of the rule change and they are, arguably, the ones that least need it.

Seriously? Most of your past posts bash all aspects of SWA. I understand lots of folks dont like us for one reason or another. Thats fine and dandy. Did we turn you down or do you dislike your box flying job?
If you get bored during your next sort or 10 hr leg, borrow one of your squadron buddy's SWA contracts and edjicate yourself a bit. Did you operate under a "book of rules" or a contract before ALPA let you back in the club?
We do have lots of side letters that are being addressed during our current negotiations. But I will stand beside the statement that in today's day and age it is "industry leading."

There are always a goodly number of butt-kissing, SWA-can-do-no-wrong, completely clueless poolies willing to polish SWA's knob (as if it will give them an earlier class date) on this thread.

They might be poolies, but they are certainly tools.

I think a better word to describe them is "Toolies."

Once again, JKE lashes out--voicing his intense hatred of SWA poolies and continuing fascination with the male genetalia...

Seriously, JKE, I don't understand what your beef is with SWA, but your posts might actually be worth reading if you put up a reasonable argument about why you think SWA is not worth waiting for. Character assassination doesn't take much effort.

I have no clue who you are, just like you have none about the rest of us poolies. As it is, you just come across as either a college kid still working on his CFI and nothing better to do, or a just a bitter SWA ex-candidate who busted his LOI.

Prove me wrong, JKE...throw some ideas down on your next post, not just insults. What say you??

Well said Blue and White. Honestly, I don't even read JKE406's posts anymore; I just skip over them because I can't remember a single post of JKE's that ever had any pertinent information about anything... Only 3rd Grader name calling--waste of time.

Well said....why is it so damn hard to keep the ORIGINAL meaning of this post: SWA POOL....btw, Dir of Trng said that the 'expectation' from the 40-60 60+ guys interviewing this month is that between 5 and 10 will be hired. Not that bad if it is true.

My buddy told me that 44 reapplied. And the deadline is now past for them to reapply. I imagine that all of them will be asked back. So with 1 class a month of 16, it looks like this only cost the poolies 3 months.

When are the classes. I've forgotten if the Feb class is still a go. Are there still 0 classes for March thru May?

Thanks in advance.

True...I've heard from a few reliable sources that very few will be asked back i.e. 5-10 total....I guess they'll have their reasons.....
