Echoeing a little bit.....spoke today to PD and they did say that the 3 Apr classes were expected to be filled solely by the 60+ guys....the decision to fill in some poolies here and there with them has yet to be determined.....maybe they'll have a different syllabus or training schedule??? That being said, they told me that after those 3 April classes, none planned until August, Sept., then maybe Oct....depending on how maybe poolies needed to fill the company quota. Good news, I guess? Keep swimming guys!

ah, crap....

Yeah, no classes until August, that is great news.

They told me to call back in two weeks and they plan on releasing the training classes for the poolies by then...since the returning capts issues will be done by then.......I meant good news in that maybe we'll finally find out when we are going to class.

Speaking of SWA, my Dallas buddy told me something interesting. He was flying from SEA to DAL and had the VPs of crew planning and scheduling on board. He told me that he thought that was odd. Why would they be in SEA? Any airlines headquartered there?

Horizon. Same type of flying. At least Horizon has some variety in airframes. Could make it appealing to many SWA pilots.

Don't ya think the gubment might have some antitrust issues with a SWA / Alaska deal? That represents a huge amount of west coast traffic.

Seems a waste to do 3 classes of 15, since there were only 46 greedies interviewed, when they could do just 2 classes and git r done.

Wow. It's begining to look like if you are on the bottom of this list, you probably should seek employment elsewhere. At this rate, the guy at the bottom of the list has another 2 years to go.

And that's if no mergers go down.

If you flew with someone who was unsafe and/or unprofessional you should have done something about it then. You should have called pro standards or talked to a CP. If you didn't do that and now you want to anonymously blackball someone you're a coward.

Anonymously badmouthing someone in a way that will jeopardize their employment just because you don't enjoy their company is equally cowardly IMO. We're talking about someone's livelihood here. This isn't junior high school.

If you feel so strongly that someone isn't a good fit then grow a pair and stand up and be counted. Do it in the light of day so the accused can at least defend themselves.

There's a pilot I know that's on the Phase II list here at B6. I don't like him. He's weird and annoying. That's no reason for me to comment on whether or not he should get hired. He's qualified and as far as I know has an unblemished flying record. Who am I to risk his employment just because I don't care for his company. I don't have to live with him. I just have to get along for 3 or 4 days.

Some of you need to grow up.

Greedies, very nice. I think you must know these guys and you are sure they will never be your captain.

I will help you with the class structure... They don't just hold classes for classes sakes. They hold a class so that the grads are coming on board at the same time airplanes are coming on board. It is a thing called a PLAN. They stick to it so that the ration of pilots to planes remains stable.

Greedie...I can see you will fit in here real well. Send me a PM with your pic so I can put it in the BWI lounge.

Look forward to flying with you...NOT.

BenHuntn- I'm sure you're not as upset b/c you already have a number... I don't blame them for coming back-most weren't involved w/ the change and are just doing what any of us w/ a desire to fly would do- but i also don't blame young pilots who have been sold out by this generation for starting to get vocal about it. Quite frankly-most older pilots had opportunities at majors at a much earlier time in their career than a pilot today- Think of all the RJ careers that have been prolonged every time a major releases scope to protect the "major" job- now this 5 year stagnation- The young guys have not been looked out for in this profession and since the first B-scale, it's a big reason this profession has gone in the toilet...

Greedies, very nice.
Thank you.

I'm positive I won't, especially since I'm not in the pool and don't desire to be there, my little brother is though and I am sad for him that these guys are being this ridiculous. Sorry you don't agree with my opionion. Poeple may have to 'tolerate' them coming back, but that doesn't mean they, I, or MOST others have to agree with their choice. Secondly, none of the current swimming poolies will fly with them either, unless they'll upgrade in less than five years (DING! did a lightbulb come on?)
I will help you with the class structure... They...
I don't need help here, but thanks anyway...That's common knowlege.

Greedie...I can see you will fit in here real well.
Again, you assume incorrectly, I have no need to fit into your guppy group.

Send me a PM with your pic so I can put it in the BWI lounge.
Please don't get fresh w/ me, I don't roll like that, only girls for me.

Look forward to flying with you...NOT.
Ditto

You know what if really think anybody owes you something in this life and if you think a little adversity is cause to whine and moan, then there is nothing I can say except you need to really take a long look at your career choice. I have no knowledge of RJ flying but I know that if it sucks I would do something I like. Just because it sucks doesn't mean your owed the next great job to come along. If you are doing something you enjoy the money doesn't matter. If you are doing something just to make a living you will never make enough to find happiness. (Britney ring a bell)? I chose a career in the military. It was good for me. I enjoyed it and the money didn't matter. I can tell you an RJ captain makes as much at 12 yrs as I did after 28 yrs. I did it because I enjoyed it. I continue to fly because I enjoy it and it isn't about the money. So suck it up and make the best of the pool and give credit to those GREEDIE guys that sacrificed to make this company a great place to work. And if they want to come back maybe its because the enjoy it.

Tank, I think you assume too much. I seriously doubt every poolie will be waiting around until their number is called. It could very well take 2 or 3 (or more) years, but then again, it might not.

Also, everyone on the list-- if they are smart-- should already be working on their plan "B". As for me, I've been with "B" since I retired from the AF last summer. Received offers from "C" and "D" as well.

To stay in the pool or not...Everyone needs to decide what is best for their situation. There are other good career choices besides SWA. When the call comes (6 days, 6 weeks or 6 months), I'll make my decision then. For now, I'm still swimming.

Have you thought about why you've had the opportunities you've had?

I know it offends your sensibilities as much as mine at times- but like it or not- we work in a union dominated industry. YOUR DECISIONS AFFECT EVERY OTHER AIRLINE PILOT. Unionization compromises the free-hand and therefore does not work if ALL we do is look out for ourselves. It doesn't get any simpler than that.

We all have choices- but if it comes down to fly, or not fly? truly--- how much of a choice is that for most people who have so much invested in their careers... ?

But what happened to the "rah-rah, SWA is the greatest company ever" kool aid that was so abundant when this thread started?
958 posts ago, this thread was meant to keep the poolies informed on class dates, etc. There's nothing wrong with being anxious and optimistic at the same time. I admit I am one of those folks.
