Let me get this correct. If a company pays fair and treats you good, you don't see organization at that particular company. HELLLLOOOOO, of course not, that's what I've been trying to say. It's just possible CS figured out you get more productive soldiers with sugar instead of vinegar. You can keep drinking your vinegar. If it's so great at NJ, why do most of the pilots I see walking around like someone killed their cat?

You may have gotten a wrong impression.

I like CS. If you look hard enough (I have a lot of posts)... you will see I have never NEVER said anything negative. And some positive things. I have said I would work there if I needed a job. However, I do prefer a union and Contract.

You have a good deal right now ... so enjoy it.

Hope it never changes ... but if it does. You can count on us to help.

But that help does not include US doing a strike against NJ. First it would be of no help but more importantly it would be illegal and never be approved by the government.... Thats why Bogarts question is a STUPID question.

Companies tend to replace the personnel in management over time that know how to use sugar. Sugar has always been more expensive than salt.

What you are seeing at NJA is a journey through time to a place where management has long forgot about the benefits of wooing employees. This place is all about the 7% return on investment to BrkHath.

Nothin's changed execpt the players and the fact that those of us who lived through that period here have forever lost the memory of what sugar tastes like. We enjoy our jobs because we now have a contract that enables us to enjoy certain protections, benefits that help us live today and prepare for later life and a salary level that is at least better than before.

... Oh but the cost was more than 7%.

Honestly, I don't give a dang if CS joins 1108 or not. Just don't come here spouting how benevolent your management is in giving you raises, when you know dang well you wouldn't have gotten them had we not gotten ours first. I've said this before: if your management is so wonderful, when do you suppose your next raise will be? My guess is sometime after 2010. Wanna take a guess at what will happen then to cause your raise?

edit: interesting, if you write "d a m n" without the spaces, the board automatically changes it to "dang." A little too sensitive, if you ask me. We ought to at the very least be able to use the same language that's allowed on network TV. Tangent, sorry.

Ultra Grump, It sounds like your about ready to cry. We've been back and forth on this forever. Lets get over your self and move on. Like I said if the 1108 is so wonderful why do you have a pilot group within your own company NJI who wants no parts of it, unless forced to.

We were getting a raise if you got one or not, so people would look at CS as a long term career. It gets expensive in training cost not to mention the higher quality of service you can provide to the owners with people they get to know and trust. When was the last time your CEO approached you on a flight and wanted to know what he could be doing better for the pilot group. That's what sets us apart from the other fractionals. He knows happy people provide top notch service because we don't waste our time thinking about how management screwed us and our next grievance.

Here's a question for the 1108. NJ goes on strike for what ever reason in the future. Owner Mr. Jones wants to fly A to B, but you're on strike, so no one is flying. Flex or Flops is also apart of the 1108 and Mr. Jones has a share with them as well and they take the trip even though NJ is on strike, would that crew be considered a scab for taking struck work?

No disrespect to pilots, but questions like this are the reason there are lawyers who specialize in labor issues. A decision like that would be decided by leadership meetings between the 1108 Executive Board and the MECs from each pilot group, with guidance from legal counselors. Then the pilots would vote on whether or not they are willing to strike. After all of that, they must be released by the NMB. I think the situation at that time (unknown now) would dictate the outcome. Thus, don't you think your question is just a bit premature.... and isn't it time to move on now?

Exactly. And if the owner is concerned or has worries, s/he could simply grab a charter and be assured that the folks up front have absolutely no dog in the fight. That's what I would do!

It makes me laugh, it wasn't too long ago you NJ pilots were telling everyone to stay away, it's horrible working here. Now, because you get more money, it's suddenly the place to be. It's still the same old employee beating sweat shop it was before the contract, you now just get paid more and suddenly all is well. I was happy with CS before the pay raise and I'm now just happier several years later. But, somehow management always has a way to get what they want in the long run. Good luck!

Correction: many NJ pilots enjoyed the job, just not the pay, and they couldn't tell other pilots when the contract would be settled. It's normal to avoid places where you can't be sure how the contract will turn out. Myself and others, simply cautioned pilots to be sure they could make it on the low FO pay for as long as it took. The contract put an end to scheduling abuses and those who know their contractual rights make money if the company fails to comply w/the rules. They also won home-basing for all pilots on the seniority list at ratification--a big boost in QOL for those who were commuting. So it isn't just the money that made a difference. Furthermore, the latest professionally conducted survey of the pilot group shows the vast majority are quite satisfied with how things are going now. Positive changes have been taking place at NJA as management and the union address areas of mutual concern--together. Good working relationships are being fostered and pilots are being listened to more than before. One in particular comes to mind... To the naysayers, I say that substantial change takes time, but just stay tuned... NJW

I can't tell you how many owners I've flown that used to be NJ, thats right used to be. The number one complaint was the pilots had no personality. They just hated the world. The crew was very unapproachable. When it comes down to it they pay us and we can't forget that. They liked the plane and they still thought it was safe, they just couldn't stand the attitude. You know what, when I'm in the FBOs I can see it first hand.
