RE: the AB vs Boeing debate.

WTF cares whether a pig or not, whether you can top storms or not? You get paid by the minute, if there's weather, go around it. THe worst storms are too tall for any plane to top anyway.

AB is better. No doubt about it. And a much better company. Boeing is anti-labor, anti-worker, anti-anything that doesn't benefit the lawyers running Boeing.

Wish I were on a AB.

So you are just thinking about applying?? I and thousands of others have had Aps in since the first week they were open to Aps, been to job fairs etc and now they are not even interviewing. so?? good luck, keep thinking.

I bet he gets hired well before you

Or it could be neither one of them gets hired. I'm always down for a healthy dose of pessimism.

320 does carry more cargo and has bigger cabin but cannot carry same paxs 73 can or do regular trans-cons. 320 is under powered for what it should be able to carry, clunky in the cabin, and very MX intensive, at least the ones we have and UAL.

73 can't haul the cargo the 320 can but will do trans-cons in winter with a full boat. 73 has smaller cabin and noisier cockpit with smaller cabin seats. Cabin seats are better on the 320 but entertainment on 73 is better.

I prefer the 73 simply because of destinations, bases and I like to see in the controls what the aircraft is doing.

I have been on the Bus doing transcons for 11 years and have never been wt restricted. You may want to check your facts...

With how many paxs and how many "tech" stops?

Obviously "never been wt restricted." was too much to comprehend.....

You brain surgeons do a real good job of mouthing off, but honestly, as far as being able to fly an airplane in a way that raises the mortgage, 90% of you are f-ing clueless. So spell it out: every seat full, every JS full, carry an alt Westbound/winter, never wt restricted? That's what you're telling him/us? Personally, I don't care what you say/think. Just know you ruined a pretty good airline, and try not to hurt anybody as you migrate into flying the former CAL destinations. Which aren't the same as where you've been wandering around in that pos bus.

You sound like an angry fella....If I couldn't fill all the seats and carry extra fuel I would be WEIGHT RESTRICTED......Would you like me to draw you a picture? As for ruining a pretty good airline you may want to look at the operation:
*Shares
*Jepp PBS
*CCS
*2 class service
*training by bulletin
*Pay banding
*And, drum roll please...............SMISEK!!
Thank you, I will be happy to wander around in the "pos bus" rather than the '65 chevy with new interior..

Not angry, simply disgusted. United could have merged with any airline and you would have drug them into the sh1tter. You're all so institutionalized you have no idea how awful your company is. Yeah, smisek came from CAL, but that's only because he was the only one stupid enough to want to go along with the merger. Kellner got a look at United and said "no way".

Ok fresh perspective......as a guy who has now worked on both sides of the fence your both right and both dead wrong. The Guppy is not running around weight restricted..neither did the Bus. The Bus is opviously more Advanced but the new Guppy wing is nice. As for which airline was better what does that matter now....truth is we all work for a crap carrier. This management team is awful. Ops on the CO side are just as screwed up or as good pending on perspective as UA side. Sermon over....carry on.

Good for you. Perhaps enjoy some Latin/South American flying again like you did at EAL. Maybe TDY GUM someday. Where in the former sUAL system does your sCAL counterparts find something fun and interesting to do? No flame. Seriously, what's going to open up on that side for our guys?

I am enjoying all of the flying my seniority affords me. I am planning on visiting all of those places you mentioned. The entire airline, except for the whale and sparky is open for all of us. You are wasting precious energy still fixating on "sides." My point for the previous post is this bantering about which of our former airlines was better or wether the Guppy or the Fifi is superior is a complete waste of time.

TDY GUM is on the radar. I have heard it is interesting flying there though I am not into the snakes.....time will tell.

CAL was on a downhill roll since 2004 when Gordo was fired. Plenty of warts over there. Now the super regional mismanagement that was CAL is running a much larger combined airline. Extremely poorly.

Both sides had their warts premerger. To pretend that CAL was the bestest airline out there shows your inability to deal with reality. CAL wasn't even able to track pilot duty day, much less provide accurate paychecks. Funny, the errors on my paychecks have always gone in favor of the company.

CAL may have been a pretty good airline in 2004; by 2009 it was just another crappy airline. To describe it as anything else is facetious.

What's your take on 1st quarter numbers?

Abysmal. I thank Smisek and the rest of the senior managers at United for the poor performance. If you spend the time looking at their bios, you'll see that most of them were with pre-2010 CAL. So these are the people who were running the 'pretty good airline' that Flopgut speaks of.

The combined airline rises to a level of incompetence that I have never witnessed at any previous employer.
