This is gonna be interesting. Talked to a couple of UAL guys in the security line, word is to get DAL type contract they will have to give up 90 seaters......... and these guys thought it was OK.

After all the B.S. over the past 15 years, WTF is wrong with people who still want to give up something?

I'm comfy in my widebody, live in base and have never ridden on one of those little RJ things. I just want a raise.

The next generation of pilots does not matter to me, I got mine!

Couple of thoughts:

1) If this comes to pass, it will be VERY bad not just for United, but the ENTIRE industry.

2) What's so great about DAL's contract?
 
The company already offered us DAL + 1$ and we told them to pound sand, maybe they meant DAL's 2001 contract. That still would be a no vote from me with 90 seat scope. But I am only one vote, who knows what everyone else will vote.

I agree. I have yet to come across anyone that is willing to loosen scope. The only change to scope you'll see is that it will be tightened. You know the issue is on the forefront of everyone's mind when even the scabs agree scope is the most important issue in this contract. Sorry kiddos, but keep dreamin'. You'll never fly anything bigger unless you make the move to a major like the rest of us did.
 
They can offer any thing they want giving up scope is not an option. They can go pound sand I will work under our current contract till I retire before I vote to relax scope.
 
Nice PBR. Either you are flaming or the UAL guys were throwing you garbage cause they wanted to mess with one of those super happy Skywest guys that is living 'rich' off their old job. I know you aren't one of those guys, but there are enough bitter guys at UAL who assume all rj guys are thrilled with their shinty jet.

Look at who's voting, a bunch of guys who are going to retire in the next 10 years and thats probably the largest block. Its noble to think that everyones on the same page but in the end, it's one pilot in his/her home checking off an X mark next to either money or convictions.

The problem with your reasoning is that the negotiating committee and the MEC will not put out a TA that loosens scope. I'm telling you, it's NOT going to happen.
 
I'm CO '87 hire, 30%; I know of no one north of that percentage who will agree to any scope relaxation.

The individual pilots I know at UA are '88 - '92ish hires, none of them have said anything about giving in on scope.

Regardless of what the union says about negotiating on public forums; I will stand by this, and make clear my vote (No Give in Scope) everyday in public!

Lee Moak is the ALPA national chairman. Never underestimate how much he will lean on MECs to accept scope concessions. He has never seen a scope concession he didn't like.

Like you even have a clue of the combined demographics of the airline. PBR heard in a security line..............sack of crap flamebait.

Yeah....another idiot post. Look at the facts my friends....ALL the other ALPA airlines have fallen on this issue....ALL of them. CAL gets a major nod for staving it off as long as they have but I assure you, scope will cave. If anyone really cared about the issue they would capture ALL jet flying and be done with it. Scope is like a no frills band aid that keeps falling off. Fix the real issue of outsourcing. As long as your wasting time and effort on a band aid instead of solving the real problem, you're destined for failure.
Your gonna shut em down....Please....you gonna bark all day little doggie or are you gonna bite? And if your gonna bite are you going to waste it on scope? Capture all jet flying and do it right.

Lee has nothing to do with individual MECs decisions.
Just like Pratter did not when DAL had their deals.

PBR: That was two guys talking out their butts. 90 seat airplanes aren't even in the discussion because the company is still not completely in the clear on 70 seaters. The new UAL contract will have excellent scope. We will most likely have to strike to get it, but we will....

Slow downs and sick outs are better than strikes. After six months ore more shareholders start kicking out management.

I do think we'll get released and I'm looking forward to it. It's our right under federal law. The tipping point in the equation is the extent to which UAL mgt is negotiating in bad faith. Jeff is on the fast track to getting banned from this industry just like his fellow Harvard predecessor Frank...

I tend to agree with you. HOWEVER....nothing surprises me anymore. UAL, ALPA, senior halves of the lists....greed knows no bounds.

Me and 1436 fellow pilots? One thing I am sure of is we want a fight! Just let the process run it's course within the framework of the RLA and one day we may get our wish!
