Give us the truth then, oh wise one.
I am not Mormon, but I live amongst them. I can personally attest to their blatent disregard for a number of things where I live, among them the idea that religion should not be taught at a public school. Sure, they had there seminary off school grounds...20 feet of school grounds, across a two lane street, but off school grounds none-the-less, yeah right. And that was a credit course, too. Oh, yeah, my high school French teacher, who was Mormon, would spout the Book of Mormon daily in class during the entire period, which was fine with me because I didn't want to learn French anyway, and since most of the class was mormon, that was cool.
Our neighbors would frequently either come over to our house and try to convert us pagens, or send missionaries to do the dirty work. That all ended when my old man got his gun one night and shot a bunch of hens that our Mormon neighbors had and would allow to roam free through the neighbrohood, ending up frequently at our house pooping on the driveway and pecking up the grass. Why did they have chickens? Well, they were too pooor to afford eggs, and sugar, and milk, and flour and pretty much everything else. Why? They had 10 kids, you know, because every good Mormon has to have as many kids as possible so they get into the highest level of heaven. Too bad their dad didn't make enough to support his family, and consequently became a burden on the welfare system. Of course the mom didn't work. She had no skills. Aren't Mormon women taught to believe their sole job in this world is to bare children. Education? Forget about it. Yo're just a baby factory! Too bad for the kids, but they were brainwashed anyway, so why did they care?
But aside from my fuzzy personal memories, what do Mormons really believe in anyway? Do you really beileve Joseph Smith was visited by an angel, led to buried gold tablets and given goggles that only he could use to decipher the text? Give me a freakin break. And all of that "translated" material is what the church is built on. How come nobody ever saw these tablets anyway? What about polygamy and its role in the Church. Since it was a cornerstone of the foundation of the Mormon Church, isn't denying polygamy in a sense disputing the revelations that Smith perceived? By the way, didn't Smith say we are all our own prophets and that God speaks to use directly, so why his his prophecy any better than when God speaks to me or you?
In essence, Mormonism is a ruse that was devised during the period of American History that saw a birth of a wide variety of fanatical relgions. Joesph Smith was a poor farmer who was looking to make some money and he came up with a great money making idea. Religion works because it appeals to ignorant people that want to beileve that there has to be something greater to live for than the crap they endure on a daily basis here on Earth. So instead of killing ourselves when we realize we live a pointless existence, we disguise this reality with another one, this one containing a benevolent God and a heaven for those that are worthy and a hell for those that are not.
