Interesting idea. This a challenge in my Carbon Cub FX-3 oil change. I have the trick from @Tsquared of using a plastic grocery bag with towels on the bottom for absorption, I use two bags as they often have holes, yeah, don't ask how I learned that, stuffing them under the filter with open end up of course.

I use an empty oil bottle with the side cut out. It fits under the oil filter. Just need to be careful not to spill the collected oil when removing it.
