Ps., Dan Roman is right about Lubbock. We should have gotten a few extra days or weeks of seniority to compensate for that layover. :D

It evened out when you brought us Flint.

Bubba-

You have certainly been one of the more reasonable people on the board in regards to this whole SWA/AAI thing. While I certainly don't presume to speak for the inimitable Dicko, I would like to try to clear something up.

...... [Ty's explanation deleted for brevity]........

Ty,

You really didn't need to clear that up; I knew most of what you said, and I agree with most of it (Although I don't know how someone hired after the merger could have gone above someone with seven years' seniority).

For the most part, I was responding to Dicko's remarks because it's hard to tell the difference between him being funny and him being an ass. He's good at both, you know. I was responding to his "AirTran is better than Southwest" remarks without being able to differentiate which type of comment he intended them to be.

Thanks for your comments, though.

Bubba

P.S. There's several ways to take Dan Roman's moniker. Personally, I'm sticking with the theory that the "Roman" part comes from the fact that he likes movies about gladiators (just like Capt Clarence Oveur)

Ty 's got it....do we need to start an Ernest K Gann trivia string? I am of the mindset that you really are not a complete airline pilot if you are not well versed in his writings.

LBB? Heck, they hotel you by the Buddy Holly memorial and a super Wal-Mart. A SUPER Wal-Mart, not just a regular one.

On a more controversial note. I agree with Waves take on widebody pay. I think the fair thing is to pay by seat and not A/C. I'm a widebody Captain and would have no problem with no equipment differential. It would be fairer to pay all Captains the same and the gain for pilots could be in turn more increases for longevity. We stop longevity increases at 12 years, I think that's pretty standard in the industry? Why not increase longevity pay with the savings of having one payscale per seat.
I know it will never happen in ALPA, but frankly, if anyone would be in a position to do it, I would think SWA would if they got larger A/C.

Nope, not happening at SWA, I've been a proponent of this idea, but from the survey of pilots I've flown with, all CA, zero agree to take less so an average pay could be used. They got theirs, they are keeping theirs.

Increase an already elitist pyramid scheme pay scale? What we need are fewer steps to top pay, not more, not longer.

Well I am not that surprised, it's too ingrained in the airline pilot culture. But like I said, I wonder if the savings from having one pay scale could be converted into greater longevity pay for all. I know, pipe dream, but it's a thought.
