I talked to Matt in the PD last week and he said they plan on 20 per class...my pool date was 5/27 and he said I am #50......i.e. #10 in the third class. See you all sometime in the future!

It depends on who you talk to and whether the sun is shining that day. I think the good folks at the PD department are giving their best guess, and trying to keep us anxious poolies off their backs. We'll know in a couple of weeks whether there will be any classes in Jan. Until then, who knows??

Maybe we should turn this into a pool on what date the next class will be. I'll throw out my guess as 9 Jan....any one else?

Just looking on the SWA website at news releases dated 11/8 and 11/9. Shows lots of new service being added during 1st and 2nd quarter next year. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is likely the flying created by the new aircraft for next year.

New airplanes + new routes = new hire classes. Don't know about you, but as a poolie this leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

On a related note. I just heard that PHX is now going more junior than LAS for F/O's. Only OAK is more junior. That was a surprise to me. This from a buddy of mine based in PHX--Jun 07 date of hire.

if anybody cares I talked to one of the guys that is on the interview team, he told me that no interviews till next spring, there is a proposal for classes starting in JAN but no answer yet from mgt.

OAK is most junior followed by LAS and PHX. I just looked at each of the domicile senority lists.

Hey poolies,

I spoke to 2 chf pilots this past week, both told me that there would be 3 classes in Jan with 24 in each class. I was in the last class of 2007, so I hope you guys all get onboard- now.

I hope this is accurate, for they have no reason to give me bad info. So, the phone calls offering classdates should be coming soon.

Great news, FlyByNav--- I hope that's how it pans out! In the deep end of the pool myself (or is it the shallow end if I'm furthest away from the drain?)

Question--does anybody know how junior MCO is for crew bases? Not concerned about getting a line there--reserve is fine as long as I can be home soon after training...

That's right along the lines of what I was thinking/hoping for... Truth be told, I'll be more than happy to dry off from this pool even for LAS... As long as it's not for a CRJ in LAX as one of the other threads would have you believe!
