Miles,

My AUBURN is better than your d@mn USC. While I never actually met an AU football player in any of my classes, and I'm sure none of them would ever even have p!ssed on me if I was on fire...but regardless my college team has GOT to be better than your team. Games were fun and the parties afterwards were as well...

My airline is also better than yours, my wife is prettier than yours, and although my dad has passed away I'm sure in his prime he could have kicked your dad's butt. Any other questions? (Hope you can see tongue firmly in cheek)

Go Air Force!!

Wait a sec...this thread isn't about football, is it? Still...USC sucks. And Roll Tide! Sorry, Albie...my old man was a '66 Bama grad.

And since this thread has turned to football (sort of)...what the he!! is Georgia thinking scheduling Boise St?? Sure it's between the hedges in Sept and will be hot and humid, but you don't schedule out of conference games you might actually LOSE! Boise was only 11-1 last year.

And we are very glad for you to have him. Judging by the two of you, it seems SWA's hiring standrads are slipping. Or is this you MC? I'll have to look into that.

Funny thing is we could insert the UAL brandname a few years ago on all of your asinine posts. My how times change. Hopefully SWA will enjoy years of prosperity through fuel hedging and your unbridled arrogance can continue unabated.

Get a grip...

Yawn....

If the typical white collar American were to spend 3 days reading posts on flightinfo, he would probably come to the conclusion that on average, airline pilots are pretty socially retarded.

It sounds like you are implying that this is a false impression ...;)

All I can say is that I have flown at both companies and SWA is BY FAR BETTER THAN CAL!

There you have it. All of you pilot prospects out there dump your CAL applications, and head up to Dallas as fast as you can.

This thread reminds me of elementary school playground at lunch when everyone is trying to justify how my teacher's class is better than yours. In the end, we all learn the same way. For once, I wish we could all act like adults and present some useful and meaningful information to others when they are asking questions.
If your proud of where you work, great. No need to trash other employers to get your point across.

It is getting pretty bad, did you hear what happened last night?

A CAL crew ran into a SWA crew, well it started out friendly but broke into a full blown bar brawl after comparing "sizes" .

All this happened at the Nikko in Paris CDG.. :D

I have been around the world more time than you can shake a stick and I have flown a nice new airplane. The rest of the world doesn't hold a candle to the USA. I enjoy my 4 leg days and 20 min. turns. I wouldn't trade my job at SWA for my old job ever. The peole are the best the new -700's are great and sleeping in the same time zone every night is a life long dream of mine.

And I can't wait to get back Int'l. If I had to fly these 3-4 legs a day up and down the rest of my life I would go batty!!

So really in the end it is a personal choice, right?

A new hire at CAL will never see a 777.

FlyBoeingJets posted some good advice. But also ask yourself, what does your inside, your heart say? Which one gives you peace on whichever way you decide? Just think, alot of guys out there would love to be in your [good] position. Whoever you choose, be happy and thankful and make the most of it.

Perhaps this new hire will get bumped from the 7 7 7 once CAL gets more then 3 of them and the senior guys want the 7 7 7. I just flew 777WN the other day. I've also flown 747WN, 757WN & 787SW.

I would go with who has never canceled a/c orders and who has never furloughed. Pick SWA baby!!!!

Actually, why fly a 7 7 7 when you can get the same pay out of a
7 3 7 and you don't have to fly out of E W R?

Southwest is a GREAT company to work for.. we are treated very well and with exception to possibly some of the cargo guys, I think that our job security is probably at the top right now..

This game can change overnight though.. You other SWA guys, what's up with trying to convince someone who isn't already convinced? We need the guy's who WANT to be here to begin with..

Maybe the reason these people are not going to Southwest isn't because they don't want to, it's because they don't meet the minimum requirements. Continental's requirements are much less restrictive and this makes it a more viable option for many, especially those of us that have gone from F/O seat to F/O seat of a heavy jet waiting for upgrade. These folks don't have a chance against all of the those regional airline captains also looking to move up to a major.
Just my 2 cents.

They have 18 with 2 more on the way. Check your facts.

Maybe pay isn't everything. Maybe some people want to fly one leg to Tokyo or Amsterdam, watch a movie, eat a first-class meal, rather than 5 legs around Texas.

Wrong, SW furloughed very briefly in the 70s... recalled them right away, but still, couldn't let you get away with that one...:p

I think I've heard someone say---

"Past performance is not guarantee of future results"

And they were right. What we are looking at here is a probability of success by looking at the factors involved and making future assumptions.

I think SWA will be successful but I also see CAL being successful. Each seems to be a master of its domain. What could hurt either of these majors so badly that a newhire this year would be feeling the pain of a fleet reduction, pay reduction, BK or furlough?

Tell that to all your furloughed pilots on the street and the new ones you are about to send.

Really, did they furlough pilots??? I think you better research that one. 3 managers were furloughed and given their jobs back.

You must have some inside information. Who's about to be furloughed?
