It was well after you came along in 2002. For those who were not here before 9/11 this was a very informative and popular message board for those preparing for interviews at ALL of the Major Airlines. It was a place where interviewees could get the latest gouge, as well as the latest hiring information.
Then came 9/11.
This once popular message board became an unpopular bitch board, with the primary target aimed at the one airline still hiring after 9/11, SWA. From the bowels of the internet it spawned a message board anti-christ known as General Lee. From day one he utilized his space on here to hate on anything Southwest. Perhaps he was furloughed, or at best, saw his seniority fall as Delta let go of a large amount of it's pilot force. Maybe this was how he could get his anger out, his own therapy for his misplaced rage. Misplaced as many would be angry at their own management, but not him, Delta could never do anything wrong. Soon after, AirTran would get the joy of his childish rants, as they soon grew much too big in Atlanta for his Delta to comprehend. Ironically, he now seems to act as if he FEELS for the AirTran pilot. If you get a chance to look over that link I posted, check out how many had the join date of 11-25-2001 and look at when they last posted. Many grew too tired of the direction this message board took and left forever.
It is pretty sad, that a once civil popular message board, has fallen to this.
What a crazy diatribe. I am an equal opportunity debater. Some people take that the wrong way, and decide to start slamming, usually because they can't debate. The Corndog Mafia really didn't like it when I just stated that I would not want to do what they do, fly where they fly. That started the biggest hissyfit I've ever seen. "HOW DARE I NOT WANT TO BE A CORNDOG." That lasted for at least a couple of years, and was highlighted with one of their own becoming a very strict moderator, which eventually ended. I have had run-ins with other personalities on this board, like Ty Webb (we're now civil, especially because of AT's current situation), some Comair characters, a few SkyWest characters, etc. I enjoy the debate, and I enjoy the gossip and rumors. The key thing here is that there is an ignore function, if somebody doesn't agree with someone else.
I actually get a lot of good feedback from junior pilots and get a lot of PMs from people with advice questions. I don't mind giving my advice, and maybe someday I can have my own section on here "Ask General Lee", where I will dole out career advice, relationship advice, and advice for JonJuan on how to deal with his cellmate, "Uncle" Sal.
I still think this board is great, and it can rise again. If people don't like people on here, use the ignore function.
Bye Bye---General Lee
