Nindiri, that was funny.

Lear, you aren't "reading it differently", you are ignoring the conditions you find unpalatable.

Any doubt in you mind should be cleared up by Gary's comments:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W56PqTbFzz8&NR=1

The simple point is that Southwest favors a negotiated deal for the certainty and speed it provides. The process agreement is structured so that everyone has something at risk in arbitration.

What could be more fair?

There is risk for everyone in arbitration, but that may be more favorable then agreeing to a negotiated settlement with SWAPA. Why would there be penalties for taking it to arbitration? Eventually the Airtran guys and Southwest guys will be paid the same, but arbitrators will give everyone a FAIR spot on the list. That sounds more PRUDENT to me.

Bye Bye---General Lee

Maybe we should keep the energy into the negotiations first and sit back to see where the openers come in. SWA as a group would be better served negotiating this deal. The what If will sort itself out if that line is crossed. As for arm chair experts, your pushing spaghetti back in the box. The third party experts are only agitating the process. Right now it comes to the in house work between the two sided plus their council. Sorry to the experts who didn't get selected to participate.

Sure it would be better to negotiate something, but MOST of us arm chair experts have watched your group and it's tactics before. We also read posts on here that are alarming at the least. The only way to fairly take away all bias and to expedite the process is to use arbitration. Two groups can argue for years on each position of the list, and that delays compensation for the incoming group, which is unfair if the incoming group is producing revenue for the newly merged company. Every merger involves this, and both sides are always friendly at first, but then tensions rise when each side points out their own idea of the merged list. It is just easier to allow someone else to decide what is fair based on testimony and recent precedence. If you want fair, that is the way to do it.

General why do you care? Truly we all want to know.

I enjoy this industry, I enjoy this website, and I enjoy the process. I have been there personally. I have been through this. I am here to help, everyone.

Why do you NOT want my advice? Some may. Am I agitating the situation, or making some people think about the right direction to go? What are you afraid of?

General,

This is the opposite end of the spectrum from what you've been through. I'm pretty sure neither side needs 'your help'.

How about this, why don't you chime in on Delta threads instead of every Southwest thread that's ever been posted? Need me to go back in the Southwest threads and prove my point?

RF

Why do you NOT want my advice?

Because it is based in ignorance: you are unfamiliar with the contracts, transition agreements, process agreements and even the personalities involved.

For the last ten years you have taken every opportunity to malign Southwest Airlines and its pilots. You aren't giving "advice", you are pursuing the same old agenda. Please stop spamming the SWA AAI threads.

Agreement, which I'm attempting to "agree to disagree as gentlemen and move on", why are we still arguing this?

Because you are making assertions which are unsupported by the language of the process agreement and public comments made by our CEO.

Thanks for elevating me to God status. Nobody has to take my advice, but you think it is relavent. Thanks for that. All I am saying is let the process be fair, and we all know that arbitration will afford that. And you are free to post on any Delta subject too, and I will probably be there to refute it. That is what happens on a public forum.

You make it seem hard to understand. It is not. Every recent merger has had arbitration to solve the SLI. To think you can do otherwise is naive. These Airtran guys should watch your "benevolence" very carefully, thanks to previous negotiations with other groups like the Frontier guys. I am just professing a fair outcome, which some people, like yourself, want to avoid. Arbitration will allow that. Calling me ignorant is really just trying to take the spotlight off of what is really going on here, and everyone needs to know that. And, this is a public forum, right? Go make your own private forum and try to invite Airtran pilots on there. I am sure it will be the next FACEBOOK. You can coin the phrase, "Ivauir me!" (I want 50% of all profits for coming up with that) Oh wait, that may also be a phrase used at a place like the Blue Oyster Club.

Speaking of Delta situations, how did Delta do 1Q 2011?

Let's here your refuting...

Looks like you need to help your company vs. "helping" us.

Regardless to how the SLI goes...

1. We shake hands over the table quickly.
2. We need a moderators help.
3. We need a arbitrators help.

...it should be done Dec. 31 of this year.

At that point we shall do a "Sherman" on Atlanta.

Whataburger's March to the Sea!!!

Buckle up, fly safe, enjoy, and have fun out there.

Almost.

"If an agreement is not reached during that timeframe, the matter is agreed to be sent to arbitration and a new implementation process would then have to be negotiated."
Gary Kelly April 18th, 2011

Correct.

Although, I think you may be interpreting his comments a little differently than what is stated in our four party agreement. If we can't negotiate a new implementation process (schedule), the Arbiters will give us one.

I hope it won't come to that ..... I got a solid chocolate easter bunny on Sunday. He hoped I wouldn't eat his ears first :)

DAL lost $318 million, or $3.5 mil/day The press report states the will no longer serve sundaes on Europe flights to crew. The cost is killing the bottom line. Please say it isn’t so, General.

You have your opinions. I have mine. That's all I'm going to say about it anymore.

Fly safe, and see ya on the line.

General please just go away and find some other thread. None of the AT or SWA crew members want your BS. If that changes we know where you live (after more than 14, 723 post we know where he lives).

Lear70 I think the openers should help sort a lot out in interpretation for both sides. I have heard that they won't be serving sundaes to the negotiating committees in support of deltas cut backs. Donations are accepted.

Happily. We had a poor quarter, that we expected to be worse thanks to ATL ice storms, Japan problems, higher fuel, etc. After the news came out this morning, our stock shot up 8%. We lost 34 cents (or close) compared to 50 cents. Here is what an AP article yesterday said about this year for Delta Earnings:

WHAT'S EXPECTED: Analysts surveyed by FactSet are expecting Delta to report a loss of 50 cents per share on revenue of $7.61 billion.

LAST YEAR'S QUARTER: Delta lost $256 million, or 31 cents per share. Revenue rose 2 percent to $6.85 billion. It went on to earn a full-year 2010 profit of $593 million, and analysts are still predicting a full-year 2011 profit, too.

Delta always has better Q2 and Q3 numbers. I have said that for years. We are a Spring and Summer airline. Our Spring has done very well so far, and Summer should be great too. After that, we will probably park a few widebodies and settle in for Q4 again. But, as stated above, it looks like we should have a full year profit. That's good.

And, your SLI will be done by arbitrators. If not, the Airtran guys will be given spots that are unfair. They know this. Try to keep selling them a used car. It won't happen.

Also, I love your march on ATL rhetoric. Have you ever been here? I guess not. You can't get any new gates, and thanks to already packed taxiways and finals, you won't be able to pull any of your typical short approach stuff. Fast taxis just won't happen when you are taxiing to runway 28 for departure. Tight turns are based on room and traffic, and ATL will test your patience on both. But go for it, and make sure you double the salaries of everyone in ATL (Airtran people), which will make it even tougher to shrink fares just to pay for it. Give up on Airtran's first class product, and watch more business people flock to us. It just goes on and on. I can't wait to watch it unfold, litterally for you. I recall you guys had the same chants when you started your PHL push. How have you done there? Anyone? Expanded much? Not really......

Why would I want to stop doing something I love, which is entertaining airline industry debate? You can always put the ignore function on, but I have a feeling you actually want to read what I post. The SWA guys are getting paranoid, so they have been tuning in more lately. They don't want me to keep revealing their "little secret." I just want all of you to live harmoniously together, holding hands, and saying "We are the Southwest crew, the Southwest crew, the Southwest crew. We are number 40 in line, number 40 in line, behind 40 Delta widebodies here in ATL. Time to bid more Birmingham, Birmingham, Birmingham....."

Delta always has better Q2 and Q3 numbers.

So does everyone else.

Look at last year's results. Ours was a lot better than yours. Some airlines do a lot better than others during Q2 and Q3. We had $300 million in profit sharing last year alone. This year has been tougher on some, primarily the Japan stuff, and other problems some don't have. You, yourself have had a problem unique to your airline that will affect your own Q2 numbers, namely the temporary parking of 79 733s due to your tuna can incident. That may not give you a loss for Q2, but it will impact it somewhat negatively. (financially and via the media)

How much did you lose when all of your 737-300s were parked?

OYS

GL,

You got yourself a deal. And let's keep going with the 'Happy Days' theme. The SWA guys will take Fonzi. You seem like a good Potsie. And your sidekick OYS makes a perfect Ralph Malph. What a cast!

Maybe you should be Chachi, and Redflyer can be Jonie. Just remember, Jonie LUVS Chachi!

I had a Delta Captain on my jumpseat yesterday bragging about his $6,800 in profit sharing he recieved from last year. I didnt have the heart to tell him I had 14,500 as a SWA FO.

Typical airline stocks. Lose money stock goes up.
Make money stock down.
Nothing to see here.

How can it be unfair if they agree to it???

Have they agreed to it yet? You and others assume and hope they will. Will you accept the binding arbitration?

I call BS on that one. A Captain made that little? I made over $10 grand and I am still an FO. Nah. If true, he flew very little.

Thanks Kramer. Great explanation. Anyway......if you beat expectations, your stock can go up, way up. That doesn't mean high oil in Libya can't drag it down the next day. And OYS is right, the Airtran guys haven't agreed to anything yet, and they have the arbitration provision in the Process Agreement. Why would they have done that? GK signed it, too. OOOOPS.

Bye Bye---General Lee

Delta lost how much again? Winning!

Winning compared to what we were expected to lose. I think we all knew we would lose something this quarter. But, again, everyone still predicts there will be a full year profit. One thing we can't predict yet is where you will be on the bottom of your combined list. That will be more interesting to watch.

Bye Bye---General Lee

We don't need more gates. With AirTran's 30, we will be able to work 300 flights a day should we want/need to. That is more than 100 more than AirTran has now. We are doing fine in the New York market, and I am sure that we'll do fine in the A-T-L. More gates in LaGuardia, Gates in DCA = next year us flying your current passengers.

I hope we double everyone's pay. A happy employee is a good employee. Maybe you could come to SWA and double your pay?

It's like running from a bear. We don't have to be the best, we just have to do it better than you can.

You know as well as I do; a couple of pizza party's and a few wide-screens, and the A-T-L will be ours. Y'all might have to fire those cropdusters back up.

Congrats on not being as crappy as Wall Street thought!! Nice job!!

BTW...It's on.

PS. If we go to Birmingham, we'll be taxiing behind RJ's doing......you're flying.

Thanks for being a sport. You're the most funnest troll to feed.
