SWA has never put a pilot on the street.
Just ask the ATA/Chicago Express guys about that. I know we did not merge, but as a result of the deal they struck, myself and a couple hundred other people did get furloughed. pref. interviews did not do much for most of us(I think they hired six or seven folks)
Were not interested Southwest, thanks.

For the record there were more than just six or seven ATA folks hired at SWA.

I'm curious...why do you think the Chico pilots were owed anything at all from the deal?

I'll wager there are more ATA guys at Airtran than SWA. I remember hearing SWA took only 3 of the first 100 ATA 'preferential' interviewees. Thanks 'people' dept....

That's the problem with you SWA people... Why would you want to "do damage"? That means other people not on your property can't feed their kids or pay their alimony. Remember, we're all in this together... or at least, that's what I thought.

Tell that to an ex Eastern pilot you dumbass.

Maybe because the deal eliminated their jobs?

I always favor DOH for any merger involving two mainline carriers, even though a ratio would be far more favorable to me in this case.

I think this is the best strategy for any air carrier. In fact, my company, who was the aquiring company, did this for the corporate departments being folded in and for the most part there has been little heartburn. Ok, there has been a little, but that is for the corporate board, ha,ha Cheers- rum

And the other potential deals (with AmWest and AirTran) would not have ended Chico feed? Give me a break, AirTran ditched their regional feed a long time ago and America West has Mesa plus others.

I feel for the Express employees that lost their jobs but expecting to go from a Saab feeding ATA to stapled or any other kind of merge with SWA is unrealistic.

Possibly, but I would have favored hiring them rather than just tossing them aside as you seem to favor. Wouldn't want to harm your precious CULTure, after all.

You have got to be freakin kidding. You don't just give a job to someone because they had a little bad luck. Get real.

We shouldn't be giving $300 bucks to folks who don't pay taxes either, but that is another mess altoghter.

If you are truly thinking of voting for Obama or Clinton, you really need to do your homework. This isn't a Socialist country.

Obama??? Refuses to wear the flag of the country he seeks to represent??? Eff'n Muslim too. Hillary???That pretty much says it all doesn't it??

I'm going with either Mcain or Huckabee
