Time to get to work. I try real hard not to let this job define my life....faith family and friends do. EVERY Southwest guy I have meet has been totally stand-up and I look forward to sharing a cockpit with any of them someday.

It seems to me that all the SWA complaints about this deal is that it doesn't "improve things" for them enough. Not enough "benefit". I fail to see the logic. Is there truly such a sense of entitlement over there that they feel the seniority integration must advance their career at the expense of others? If anybody else gets a good thing, then they must get even more? I recognize the AirTran pilot group gets pay raises but the loss of seniority is truly painful. Seniority isn't *everything* but it counts for a hell of a lot.

Are you happy? Where on the list would you be? Remember, you have to go back to flying the line.

He's near the bottom, took a 21% hit on his relative seniority, and he IS flying the line.

I just re-ran the math. I go from 66% currently to 89.5% on the combined list. If it wasn't for the time it took to transition everyone over and the ability to stay on our side of the fence for a while, I'd be very close to going from #7 in base to being back on reserve. PCL *WOULD* be back on reserve if he wasn't fenced in the 717 and protected to a certain extent.

Funny thing, a BUNCH of us predicted SWA would buy us for the last several years and bid the 737 for that reason, just in case the 717's were sold off in the transaction. Now, those pilots who are on the 717 are actually BETTER PROTECTED in terms of bidding power for the next 5-7 years compared to the 737 pilots.

Funny how things work out. Who knew life as a pilot would be such a roller coaster ride? At least it's not a dull life.

The isl is going to create animosity here the likes that have never been seen before. You mean the kind of animosity that the age 65 rule was going to create, or the kind of animosity that the pilot talking on atc freq (you know what i'm talking about) was going to create between us and the FA. If this gets voted in then we live with the result period end of story. If you want to burn down the best paying job in aviation I don't think to many pilots are going to help you, I for one will not!

That being said I'm waiting for the road shows to make up my mind.

and miss out on 10 years of sitting reserve in oakland. i think not. i will make this work for my family even if it takes moving closer to the most junior base.

i am waiting for the road shows, but as a 7 yr capt. i am leaning toward yes even though it is not all i had hoped for. i guess that is the point on both sides.

i just hope if it is voted in that it does not become a swa vs airtran attitude for the rest of my career. it would be great if both sides can "own" this agreement and move forward as a unified pilot group.

I really believe that when all is said and done, it will be a unified group. What a waste it would be for guys to try and let it brew for years to come. What would that accomplish? Whenever the time comes, I think you will be welcomed here, no doubt.

True. However that SWA pilot will not be a former AirTran pilot. On the other hand we have a very humble amount of retirements compared to the SWA list.

The first deal that swa presented I believe was Doh - 4 for AAI with 72 retirement upgrades staying in house That changed when the negotiations created a new give and take, and other protections were negotiated. What was better for AAI, I do not know I am not an AAI pilot?

Serious question and NOT flamebait...but what would happen if SWA sell's the 717's to DAL? Is there furlough protection written in for the AT guys? and for those who say fulough protection isn't worth the paper written on it, it saved MY job in the last recession.
