when I first joined this board, I tried to convey this same message. While it's true, no one here wants to hear it. You know it's true, I know it's true, and we represent the majority of pilots at SkyWest. This is a merely a piss and moan fest, so get ready to be attacked by the usual suspects. They'll try to convince you that you don't have it so great, even though your QOL, W2, and future prospects here prove otherwise.

Screw 'em. I have no sympathy or them or what they percieve is a shat sandwich....complain all you want on this and JetCareers, I don't care anymore. Those of you who know who you are need to worry more about getting laid and getting off the internet and complaining about Skywest.

Well, you ignore the question and tell us what you "believe" about a contract somewhere. Good debate. Ignore the question and provide no factual information.

So which airline contract has a COLA that has kept pace with inflation over the past 7 years?

The average Skywest pilot makes ~45,000 dollars a year. Your 3% pay raise will cost Skywest less than 4.5 million dollars. ASA secured 13.5 million in retro. pay for ~1700 pilots. That averages out to over five years of your one year pay raise per pilot at ASA. Way to defend it though...I'm sure you're happy.

And yet, SkyWest pilot's will also benefit more on their quaterly bonus as the profit margin keeps rising. And then they'll benefit even higher than that when the stock price goes up. These are the things none of you take into account whe trying to fogure out how much money a SkyWest employee makes. Another other regionals out there wanna compare their stock price? Options? Quarterly Bonuses? The majority of SkyWest pilots voted for a raise. Congratulations to them because they all deserved it. And a year from now, I'm certain they'll be getting another one.

The operative words, of course, are, "You're paid more to actually fly the airplane."

vtech its not semantics a real pay rate means you get paid the same for SOFT and HARD time. If you have a whole month of 70 trips and take vacation on some you get get paid the 200 rate for the vacation you took. Equals LESS money, with a REAL rate this wouldn't happen.

As a former SkyW guy I would like to have seen a much better agreement for these guys and to have a hard rate for the 700/900, but remember this was a mid term agreement increase from the one set not to expire until Dec 2010. How regardless of the rates how many ALPA carriers have gotten a raise prior to the contract expiring?

Thats pretty close considering 60% of the pilot group has been here 3 years or less.

Get in touch with T Coyle...a former SAPA rep. He can give you accurate information on what an average pilot there makes. As far as a mid-term agreement and comparing it to an ALPA carrier...I'm not sure that's fair. If negotiations were conducted at Skywest under the RLA, then I don't think the original pay agreement would have been voted in. Still...I'm surprised that your pilot group doesn't value their skillset more.

BTW 45,000 includes the performance rewards.

ASA did with LOA 29 in Contract 1998.

XJT did with their charter pay package.

NWA got 150% pay back over 80 hours plus various work rules.

UAL just signed a TA bring narrowbody workrules up to their widebody standard.

Because...to my knowledge...none of those cases were renegotiated pay scales. I was under the impression that this thread was about SkyWest getting a new "pay scale".
The splitting hairs comment stems from all of the chest thumping and claiming this and that in the name of whatever cause you support...be it ALPA, SAPA, Kool Aid, large breasts, or Farm Aid.
Your examples don't fit the criteria.

Pinnacle's current agreement (which included pay raises) was signed three years prior to the amendable date of the old contract.

Whats wrong with people fighting for what they deserve? Your company is making money hand over fist and can afford to pay you more. Why sell yourself short? :confused:

Your right about XJT. It was an increase across the board as well as substantial gains for the charter guys= $18 an hour overide. All that was before the end of the contract and was signed upon a contract extension. Also included were many contractual QOL gains for all pilots. Good Stuff.:beer:

I can think of a unionized pilot group (no, not necessarily ALPA) that just secured a fairly substantial pay raise well before the expiration of their contract, along with QOL improvements. Does that count? Anyway carry on, that $21/hr or whatever it is sounds pretty impressive.
