Skybus pilots had to know the level of risk they were accepting by working there. I never want to see anyone lose their jobs, I know how stressful that is.

However, when one decides to work for the professional equivalent of a Las Vegas Casino, you can't be shocked if you lose. Skybus was clearly a gamble.

The truth is the industry is better off without them. Hopefully the flight crews have a quick recovery however it's pretty dark out there.

Boy was I off. I gave them five years before they tanked. No one should feel sorry for the pilots. They should not have been accepting those kinds of pay rates. For pete's sake a school bus driver were I live starts at 60k a year with bennies and summers off. Unless we were in a depression the likes of the one in the 20/30s there is no excuse for that kind of pay.

Hmmm....try again....The string indicated that ALL pilots would get the year 2 rate...Thanks for highlighting another source of constant frustration...the myth of irrelevant payrates. Who the F cares what the 12th year rate was? They paid that to how many guys? It might as well been $500 an hour. Here's the deal, UAL was paying MOST of it's Capt's at the 12 year scale (which was higher then than the 133 you are quoting), Indy was paying ALL it's A320 Capt $120 and hour. UAL was paying ALL it's FOs in the mid 80's are better...Indy was paying all it's FOs $67....and there is the issue of the 15% B and C fund. So all told, UAL was paying it's crews a good 20% more IN BANKRUPTCY. But thanks for making me feel that much better about the financial prowess of my Union....and finally, the last thing you should do to "prove how smart someone is" to an economist, is to point out that they have an MBA (I have one of those also....completely useless)

This was a regional going LCC......

So whar would you say to the pilots who started Southwest. Its all a gamble. Sometimes it pays off othertimes it doesn't.
Good Luck guys.

Worst regionals? Quick upgrade? In 2002? You obviously know not of what you speak. Upgrades were not quick in 2002, and our contract was industry-standard at the time. Thanks for playing, though.

Wow,

Aren't we selective in our responses.. Many know what you are... You can be coy, and do the run around on these messages board, like I said we know the pathetic little man you are..

Somebody in the pad just said who you are...... Apparently you were just as much of an a$$ at Pinnacle as you are on this board.

Loco.

Wow

Regardless of how any of us feel about the airline, have some compassion for those going through this. Layoffs/Furloughs/Etc. are extremely hard to go through on every level and having gone through one myself, I would never wish it on anyone.

I agree with other poster's wisdom of "Don't think this cannot happen to you", because it very well can. Especially in the next couple of years.

I'm wishin' everyone who has lost their airline job the past few weeks a speedy recovery of their flying career at much better places. GOOD LUCK! :)

Exactly. For Now, it's paid off for Southwest. That wasn't true 8 years ago. WN wasn't always paid well. Those early guys took a gamble and they made millions in Stock Options. Skybus took a gamble and it blew up.

that's how it goes.
