I would get a receipt from every item turned in......AND GET your training records!
Oh... ask what their fedex account number is. Then ship them to them.

I'd send the ID back right away-and spend the money on a return recipt...only about three bucks-that way you have some kind of proof that you mailed them something. I asked about returning my manuals when I resigned and was told to keep them.

Sounds like the fat lady has sung and is leaving the stage. Good luck all.

Well, they already sent me the "please send in your ID and manuals.. TSA no fly list blah blah" letter..

However, I'm not going to spend the $15 bucks to ship it to them if they just closed the doors.. A wee bit pointless me thinks..
worst 8 bucks I ever spent...

Corpex gone!

I wish all furloughed guys/gals at Corpex the very best, hope you'll get other jobs really soon.

I am pulling for several of them; maybe everyone can try to help out someone?

Also,
please spread the word that Cindy Austin (scheduling) is creating an online "Corpex Album" - any pictures where Corpex airplanes and/or employees are part of are welcomed. If you want to send a picture of you in the past and of you now - you can do that too. Cindy is very good at this so I'm sure this album will be great for all of us to enjoy.

If you have any pictures you'd like to share, please do so.

Funny or sad, silly or amazing, airplanes by themselves, or people and airplanes - doesn't matter - whatever you think will be good to have in the album - let's have a great online album to remember our past.
I already emailed her a picture of Chris Miller – I want him to be a part of this too!

I don't have her email address on me but will be posting it soon, or maybe you can PM me and I’ll give it to you that way.

Also, if you have a regular picture, just scan it and email it that way.

Ps. So, should I waste my money sending in my manuals and ID badge?

YES!!! When I resigned I was told I could keep my badge for a week so I could use the jumpseat privileges. However the “new” (at the time) records lady was not notified about this by the “old” lady who’d resigned just a few days earlier so the next thing I know I am getting a certified letter from Corpex saying TSA was notified I had not returned my ID (no phone calls whatsoever and only 5 days after I’d left!)
Fortunately I got help from Adam and others and after sending out a couple certified letters to the TSA the problem was fixed; the records lady apologized to me later and said she saw my records on her desk when she started (I had resigned just 2 days prior) but couldn’t find my ID – and somehow she thought that TSA is supposed to be notified about “lost” IDs within 24 hours or something like that.

Do not screw up turning in your ID – in post 9/11 environment it’s a big no-no.

Good luck everyone and please stay in touch!

Little Corpex nostalgia! :(

So what is the scoop?

What has been said? How does everyone know the doors are being shut?

The ID will be in the mail on Tuesday..

I was told Howell got shafted again by Caldwell and Story...and he walked. Also heard Breeden resigned as well as BL and AH

Just some emails and phone calls that’s all – part of me still hopes they’ll miraculously survive after all, but…

...here are some email excerpts:

…bob loony resigned, AH (DO) got hired at paragon freight among other people..i think BC (CP) is going to colgan air. They failed to make payroll this past week...

Also, here’s a letter from a scheduling supervisor

“Hey All,
Just thought I would update you as to what is happening, Chuck Howell has pulled out from Regions Air. Therefore we will not be paid from here on out. Not even key personal. I came in to get my check there is not one. Fred Breeden resigned also. Been nice working with each of you.
You can still keep in touch with Cindy by e-mail. She will have lots of time to put the photo show together.
Take care...

Very sad indeed :(

Wow.. yeh, I'd say they are finished..

You know, I'd love to see the place get back up and running for the GOOD people there..

For the rest of them, I couldn't care too terribly much.. It's a bummer to see the good get shafted...

Hehehe...post 1250! From Amsterdam, no less!

AV8OR well done on the photo tribute...funny, of the shots on the ground the only ones that I couldn't immediately place were BNA and TRI and ATL-hehehe, never got to TRI, tried to scam the long one a couple of times but the Country Club boys wouldn't have anything to do with letting a scuzzy old RDU puke get some of their goodies! Probably just as well, might have gotten into trouble...kind of amazed me that noone ever got arrested in LAF! ;)

Perhaps we should get some kind of webpage for people to send in crapex pictures to...kind of a web photo history-someone know how to do that???

Three things you can trust me on-

1) There is life after furlough.

2) Your next job won't be perfect either.

3) When you get another job it's going to be so much better than what you now think you've lost that you aren't going to be able to believe what you were putting up with!

Good luck my friends!

+1

I'll vouch for this

OK, I call BS on that one. If you were truly posting from Amsterdam, you wouldn't even be able to log in much less to write anything that’d make sense. Amsterdam will do that to you, or so I’ve heard… LOL. Unless you’re staying in New Amsterdam maybe? Or is it New York? :)

AV8OR well done on the photo tribute...

Thank you – it’s all Cindy’s idea – I think it’ll be great for all of us to go back and remember the way things used to be…

Believe it or not, maybe you just weren’t red-neck enough? It’s one thing to be "country" – east Tennessee my friend is a totally different ball game! ;)

You mean kind of like a message board? I’ll ask her about that, I know she’ll have lots of time now to work on this :(

I know Google has a great Picassa Web Album – free and unlimited space, maybe that’s an option. At the same time, I figured if she creates an “official” Corpex Memory Lane album, she’ll able to weed out some pictures that maybe shouldn’t be there? ;) You never know what some people will try to post, you know. At least so I’ve heard…

Memorial Day!

- It’s Memorial Weekend folks and I found this poem that I really like. I’m not sure who wrote it. Hope no one will turn this into a political for-this, against-that forum...

– I just thought this poem was a great way of thinking about our troops on Memorial Day – let’s keep it that way…

I watched the flag pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease..

I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil
How many mothers' tears?

How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.

I heard the sound of Taps one night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.

I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington .
No, freedom isn't free.

And here’s another beautiful Tribute to the Fallen

Enjoy Your Freedom & God Bless Our Troops

Corpex Memory Lane online album

Ok folks, regarding the Corpex Memory Lane Online Album (I don’t know if she’ll call it that – it’s just a term I’m using for now) we would like to include Kim Sasse and Jon Palmer in it. I have already emailed Cindy some pictures and the obituary for Chris Miller but if anyone has any other pictures of Chris Miller, Kim Sasse and Jon Palmer please email them to Cindy Austin at [email protected] .

Remember that if you have many pictures please send several small emails instead of a large one – this way you will not be blocked by the attachment filter.

Also, even if you do not have any pictures, please email Cindy with your latest email address so she can contact you once the online album is up and running. Apparently the locks have been changed at the hangar and Cindy will not be able to retrieve any email addresses from her office. Email her your name and the approximate time you were at Corpex since she might not remember you; nor will she be able to look that up since her computer is now in Ritchie’s hands.

Please spread the word to other former Corpex pilots (even if it’s been years and years since they left) about this Corpex album – it’ll belong to everyone and will be a nice reminder of our good & bad times while there. I really hope everyone steps up to the plate and makes this a great album. Remember it’s totally free and Cindy is doing it just because she enjoyed working with us all.

Is there anywhere left domestically to go fly a Jetstream?

I'm not sure but I bet Satan has a few for naughty pilots...Hell has to be pretty big though and I doubt that you could climb high enough to get the freon to cool the damm thing down.

I'll get with Cindy when I get home the 7th or so. Bro...I couldn't keep up with a few of those boys, but I never have owned a horse.

Na, I was near Amsterdam alright...Bad Hovendorff (SP?) to be specific, in or under I should say the EHAM traffic pattern. I had three half liter heinkens and a half club sandwich for about 26 euros-(beleive me now??? That was with the discount) but I was to wiped out to do the downtown thing...(hell, I was to tired to be cheap and walk to the store and get a six pack cause I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it) besides, well, maybe the faces do change behind the windows, I don't know...are you supposed to look at their faces???...drinking Leffe now in EBLG, so eat your heart out!

hehehehehe...thing is I may have to come join your team for the paycheck someday!
