The Brasilia at SkyWest is currently 10-12 months to upgrade. On another point, just like Doug said, you shouldn't upgrade until you're ready (not when the company is ready).

Wow.. that went from 8 months to 12 months in less than a month.. :) At that rate, when a new hire got there, the upgrade could be something like 2 years.. ;)

It's not a matter of whether or not they enforced it..

If you sign your name on the line that says "If I leave, before a year is up, I will pay X amount of money back.." and then you leave before that year is up.. Your bitching should be non-existent..

Sorta like throwing a fit about getting a ticket for speeding.. How many people speed on a daily basis without getting nabbed? A bunch.. Every now and then, someone gets nailed..

Helps if they tell you about the contract prior to starting class. Otherwise, you are forced to sign under duress.

SUD eh? :)

They forced you to sign the contract eh? They gave you no option of leave now or sign the contract?

I'd love to see "signed under duress" for a contract like this, hold up in court..

It boils down to...

You signed it... Deal...

You sign it or you have no job..... thats duress. It did hold up. They also settled out of court with alot of other folks because they knew it was not holding up.

So, you are not having to pay?

Interview

I am not paying a cent to travel for the interview. Cause of a friend who desegnated me as a travel partner to get the (Spouse like trave benifits) cause he is not married. LAX-DEN and then Regions getting me DEN-STL-BNA. I'll stay the night before at the BNA MArriott (4 star) hotel and have the interview at 08:00 on Wed.

Well the good news is, if we fold in 3 months, you won't have to worry about the contract.. :)

2 more bids for the STL flying. Big Sky Air and Great Lakes. Looks like there is stiff competition for these routes.

Big Sky Air

Great Lakes Airlines

I bet Big Sky is hot and eavy to expand their ops in IL now they have their foot in SPI's door. Great Mistakes is probably itching to get back in the IL market too. Mesa still sucks!

ZING!!!

Update

Our interview process is going to be less than structured this go-around because of the short notice of a class date.

Airline info: (better than our website)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RegionsAir

The Jetstream base is STL and the Saab base is CLE for the time being. We are hiring for the Jetstream right now. Many things may change very soon as we are in the process of being sold to an airline investment group. They are interested in bringing bigger airplanes. Again, right now, F/O pay depends on flight time: 1000-1499 = $17/hr, 1500-2000 = $18/hr, 2000+ = $19/hr. The contract on the table begins all F/O's at $19/hr. Our saving grace is that upgrade is usually less than a year.

I'm going to be in Orlando on the 15th - 18th recruiting at the Women in Aviation conference. I will be in St. Louis on the 12th, then Nashville the 13th and 14th. If you don't need a long separation from your current employer, we can get together the week of the 19th in St. Louis or Nashville. The class will start Monday, Feb. 26th. I realize this is short notice. In return, there will be no simulator ride. The interview is mainly to get to know you. We have a short ATP-type written test and interviews with various pilots (F/O and CA), and myself. We expect you to have strong instrument skills, b/c the Jetstream will eat you alive if you don't. We hire to keep you here, but you must be on your game. The training is a difficult 5 weeks in Smyrna, TN and St. Louis.

This is a stepping-stone airline. Our expectation of our pilots is to put in at least a year (there is a training contract), upgrade to CA and get in your coveted 1000 hours of Part 121 PIC time. That is the magic minimum for most legacy airlines.

I look forward to hearing from you and setting up an interview.

that's great, someone who should have no idea of contract terms is saying this and that.

the pay scale is still being hashed out.

this "buyout" looking more and more like a shuttle america / chit-taco scenario.

and yes,
MESA STILL SUCKS!!!!!!!
