Any talks of what they are going to do with the staffing?
Will they train Saab drives on the wonderful J-ball?

I've heard that the Captains would be re-qualed, but I also heard the Saab would dig Regions out of the hole they're in.

Airport Authority Selects New Air Carrier
Posted Wednesday, January 10, 2007 ; 06:12 PM

The Benedum Airport Authority Board has selected Colgan Air to replace RegionsAir.

BRIDGEPORT -- After months of mounting frustrations with its current air carrier, the Benedum Airport Authority voted Wednesday to endorse Colgan Air as its replacement.

"Words cannot fully express our frustration with (RegionsAir)," said Jim griffith, the Harrison-Marion Regional Airport manager.

How sad, really unbelievably sad how an airline with the LOWEST paid pilots can be losing money!

Unfortunately, this might be next: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0151520/M/

Please note which airline those airplanes used to belong to! :(

When bankruptcy was imminent at Independence Air, their chief pilot and some upper management let the majority of their pilots take a day off and attend a job fair. If my memory serves me right, one of their check airmen told me at an AirInc jobfair they cancelled over 190 flights that day alone!
He said, “We knew that they’d all either call in sick or we could be proactive and cancel the flights in advance and let the passengers fly a different airline that day.” I heard their chief pilot and some other check airmen later got in trouble with the CEO of the company, but so what? Independence went belly-up some 3 weeks later.

I mention this because I hope everyone will get a chance to go to a seminar pretty soon – just in case of course! :)

Also, Belchfire mentioned earlier paying off union dues and I do agree. If you ever happen to be hired at an airline that has Teamsters – and you’re not up-to-date on your union dues - they will have a record of that – trust me. I’m not going to get into an argument on whether they actually did anything for you or not because I wasn’t there. I’m just saying, keep your options open – the last thing you need while looking for a job is to know that the airline you finally managed to get an interview with has Teamsters on board and that they are a “closed shop” (which of course they all are)

Been to MQY lately? It nearly looks like that now.

I have but not the airport itself - just the “cool people” hangout :) You know, training dept. ;)

It truly sucks what’s happening at Regions right now. I guess a part of me still hopes that somehow, it’ll all work out after all, but I’ve heard most guys/gals have given up. Like I said – it’s a shame!

Only if BlowJets turns you down should anyone even consider interviewing with this company.
:puke:
RegionsAir->

-ATCT & Canadair RJ

From what I have heard, If GOJETS turns you down you should consider either eating a bullet or a new career...you either:

1. have too many DUIs

2. can't fly a paper airplane

3. might only have a student pilot license

4. might be a wanted criminal and they dont want you arrested on an overnight

I’m just saying, keep your options open – the last thing you need while looking for a job is to know that the airline you finally managed to get an interview with has Teamsters on board and that they are a “closed shop” (which of course they all are)

So what your saying here is..

An airline with Teamsters won't hire us, because we didn't pay dues at our old airline?

An airline with Teamsters won't hire us, because we didn't pay dues at our old airline?

Honestly I don't know. Maybe some other union gurus can chime in?

For sure - if you get on with an airline that has teamsters onboard (don't think that are that many) you'll at least be asked to "repay what you owe" to the union. My point was only to expand your options - not shrink them to save a few bucks, that's all.

Also, after all you guys DID vote the teamsters in, or people who were there before you. Since the majority decided to join, personally I think paying your dues is an ethical thing to do. If you don't like what the union is doing, or NOT doing for you try to vote them out, or change leadership, or... Not paying the dues is basically sticking your head in the sand and pretending that you don't work there.
But that’s just my view, I’m frequently wrong, so what do I know?

Opening my mailbox earlier I noticed someone sent me some green toilet paper. Just got my new 'paper' check in the mail today (versus the previous direct deposit method). It's amazing, it has all kinds of bright beautiful colors on it and it actually defys the laws of physics! If I throw it on the ground it actually bounces right back up to me!!! You know what they say about a company that is about to go under, the payroll is the last thing to go.

Are they actually not doing direct deposit anymore? They are issuing checks?

Yeh, I wasn't trying to argue the point, it was a legit question..

I have no issue's paying dues.. However, if they want me to pay dues, they can atleast contact me.. I have been here over a year and have heard nothing from the union..

Living on FO Regions pay, I can't just go out and pay $1,300 or whatever it is in backdues.. If we get a contract, etc I would love to pay my dues..

fact: an airline is interested in buying us
fact: could be a "shuttle america scenario" or a "go jet scenario"

unfortunate fact: rumor of DC resigning is apparently false

rumor: "big announcement" on the 16th

Akeem,

It didn't actually bounce did it?!?!?!? That aint right!

I don't know about that. It's WAY TOO hush hush for it to be another airline. Why would another carrier care if you had a union contract or not? If they already had a union on property, you would just assume their contract when Regions pilots become Brand X pilots. If they don't already have a union on property, why would their higher ups PUSH to get one before they bought you?

None of it makes much sense to me.

I go back and forth.. Some days.. I believe.. some days.. I don't..

Today, I wanna eat a whopper..

"If they already had a union on property, you would just assume their contract when Regions pilots become Brand X pilots. If they don't already have a union on property, why would their higher ups PUSH to get one before they bought you?"

Well, unless the new owner wants to keep the two companies on separate tickets so they can turn the pilots on eachother. Done very successfully at World vs. North American, or Atlas vs. Polar. If so, I'd imagine the union at the purchasing airline would be very adamant about the airline to be purchased had at the very least a union contract with its pilots.

I hope Regions somehow survives.

Btw, what do you mean by GOJETS - scenario or Shuttle scenario? You mean Regions would be basically bought by one of those airlines or is there some kind of “scenario" under which Regions would supply services for the “buyer”?

"unfortunate fact: rumor of DC resigning is apparently false" :(

...I have no issue's paying dues.. However, if they want me to pay dues, they can atleast contact me.. I have been here over a year and have heard nothing from the union...

Again, I don’t know how this works at Regions but don’t you guys fill out some kind of union membership form when you're hired?

Also, I’d imagine that for the first year (probation) you only pay initiation fee and no membership fee. I believe that’s a standard procedure with teamsters and most other unions. I know technically you are “always” on probation at Regions but I think teamsters honors the 12 months no membership dues policy. At least that’s my understanding, anyone else knows more about that?

It's amazing, it has all kinds of bright beautiful colors on it and it actually defys the laws of physics! If I throw it on the ground it actually bounces right back up to me!!!

Prince_Akeem – was jack and coke somehow involved in your “experiment???” ;) Somehow, I take it for granted! :)

rumor: "big announcement" on the 16th

And the plot thickens! Who is the mystery buyer? Is it Shuttle America with brand new E-190s?!? Is it Mesa Airlines with plywood sheets? Or, is it the often talked about Waste Management??? Stay tuned!!!

I don't know if it's fact, but the guy driving the de-icing truck told us that Regions owed the airport authority over $31,000 for Fuel and de-icing services, etc.

Gulp, ah that was good. Tram, u still hangin around there? How many ppl got hired from the Skywest interview the other day?

stickler, not sure yet.. I'm 50/50.. Depends on how soon we shut the doors..

Am I willing to sit 2ish months to see what happens? Sure..
Am I willing to sit 6 or 8ish? Not one bit..

I'm not sure how many got nabbed at the SW.. We lost 2 Captains this week and several FO's..

I was on the phone last night with a good friend of mine from Pinnacle. He told me that Pinnacle was looking to buy a Saab operator. I asked if it was Colgan and he said he didn't think so because he didn't think Colgan was for sale.

On a side note, why does one airline buy another airline solely for the certificate?

Just a heads up there guy, if anything happens between Colgan and pinch a nickle you new zipcode will be 20110.

Hold up there sport, why would we be involved in a transaction between Colgan and Pinnacle? It seems like you might not be getting the message. Pinnacle is looking to buy a Saab operator.
Colgan is not for sale.
You do the math.

Hint: RegionsAir is a Saab operator. RegionsAir is up for Sale. Another airline is buying RegionsAir.

To keep the airlines on separate certificates in order to pit the pilots against each other = save money. IE how can you guys demend more pay when brand Z can do the same flights for half the money???

- which airlines are the guys who are leaving going to ? I know one CA went to CONT recently, any other good news? FOs & CAs?

Ooooph! That would go hand in hand with what the Union is saying. They want to do RJs, but you need to sign this pisspoor contract...

There were a few that didn't care for my kicking and fussing but I knew the truth. The truth was that there was a group of pilots that could do anything given a little training and some equipment that could be profitable...

Only one Regional has failed since Sept. 11, 2001-ACA. They tried to go it alone and I give them credit for trying something bold.

I think that given the dynamics of fuel prices and cost per seat mile there is a future for turboprops-on the order of DHC-8-400's-that could be very lucrative. Heck, there are lots of outfits making money with RJ's on a fee for departure basis.

The brain trust in MQY could have done so many things to take advantage of the boom in the Regional Airline market but they sat and let every other swinging sausage with a certificate go for it!

Jballs can't pay for themselves. Haven't since AA screwed with the TWA agreement and Midway packed in their tent...

The Saab operation was too little, too late and every concern that I expressed in a letter to MQY including pilot pay has come true...

and I am just a dumb line pilot...that doesn't see "the big picture"...and now they are letting the same things that killed the Saab program kill the jball side of the house...in fact it started at the same time the Saabs went on the line...

jeeze...

Anyone with two more functioning brain cells and better "business" connections than I have could have found the money to turn Corpex into what CHQ or PSA or Air Whiskey have become!!! (There was a time that corpex and CHQ were not really that far apart in size-a little known factoid that reflects poorly on several people).

$h!++!!! It makes me want to tear my hair out! I was proud to be one of the last of the few-the Jball drivers in a world of glass and automation! Frack!

AV8OR, I hope the boxes treat you well...God knows I am happy to be back at that end of the business (and now I don't have to load the plane myself!)!I would caution about Clipper Connection-if I am not mistaken they are also known as Boston-Maine Airways...but I think that they have been getting their raises-and cool people turn wheels too, not just hang out in training :)! Welcome to the Order Of The Sleepless Knights, I dub thee Sir AV8OR!

My friends, the best of luck. I would really hate to see the "Corpex" callsign go away...

Regardless, do what you have to do to keep yourself/your familys fed...you won't get any medals for riding that place to the ground.

Hmmm, didn’t realize Clipper Connection used to be Boston-Maine Airways? :( If so, didn’t they fire a bunch of their guys and hired instead from a lower paid airline not too long ago? I can’t remember all the specifics, but regardless I’m de-endorsing that airline (you see, I just created a new word!).

;) They do treat me right - as a matter of fact, haven’t heard much complaining from the back :) No seriously, I love it; give me a coupled of years and I’m sure I’ll have things to gripe about, right now I’m just loving it. I was in HNL the other day and saw one of your birds parked next to us, a -200 right? Which hotel do you guys stay at, we use a few different ones but lately I’ve been staying at ohana east – you ever stay there? If so I hope I’ll run into you there.

and cool people turn wheels too, not just hang out in training

I know, I was just kidding; I’ve only been visiting the training department because in order to go past the gate I have to call someone first and coordinate with the guard shack as I do not have a MQY badge. It’s just so much easier. As far as cool people, you're right - Corpex management should consider themselves very lucky to have one the best work groups in the industry. Too bad they chose to ignore their employees and thus stunned the growth of the airline.

Also, I’m filing a complaint with Microsoft spell-checker, as it missed the word “demand” in my last post. I might even sue them and maybe get some free xbox games?
