That's it? Sure isn't anything to brag about. I thought you guys made way more money then that to fly that big RJ! Hmmm, double the seats with jet engines under the wing? Seems that would come out to more then just 10-20k more. Sad

But that is how the industry has gone.

The only advantage I've become aware of is they will pay for a commuter's home airport parking pass, which PDT will not. Yet.

Oh and my friend who was recently hired was touting his first class 767 ride to training as a benefit. 4 weeks later he was told he was no longer needed. Thank god for Shuttle America or he'd be up ******************** creek.
 
I'd agree with you. I have nothing but great things to say about the guys who were at RAH before all the hiring boom over the last year. The guys hired this past year have really given RAH some what of a cocky mo fo look which isnt what the older guys at that company are like.

Most the senior and guys with more then a year experience at RAH are some of the best guys there are IMO.
I hate to admit it, but you have a very valid point about some of our younger FO's. Allot are from Delta or Comair academy and for some reason, that school must give their students a gallon of "Koolaid" every day. I am not saying that all come out like that but A very large some due. I am in the top 1/3RD of our Seniority list at RAH. When you fly with an FO who has 500-1000hrs and has not flown anything larger than a Piper Seminole and thinks that because they are flying a new Shiny jet that they are better than everyone I gets old very very quickly.

We have allot of great people here Both Captains and FO's, but like every company, we have are "select few" who give us the holier than thou persona at times.

That is exactly what it is, or the "Academy" as they like to call it. I overheard one of these academy guys telling people he used to work for Delta, it took me a minute to figure out he was talking about Delta Connection Academy. Come on guys don't let a few tool bags taint an entire pilot group I'm sure you have plenty at your company too.

I make 10-20k more that a PDT TP driver, hold weekends and holidays off.(But it only seems that you really care) I receive full cancellation pay, premium pay when offered and if my schedule gets changed I'm paid the higher of the swap. Educate yourself before you open that pie hole.

I'm sorry, when was that last time you saw a F100 flying around....1995? Last time I looked at the calender it was 2008. Should I be sorry that the 737-100/200/500's are going away because you cannot operate them in a cost effective manner.

Cancellation pay at Republic is $0. If the completion factor is over 98.5, then you are guaranteed your original block for the month assuming you didn't call in sick. This clause is worthless because most guys go over block to begin with. There is no premium pay at Republic either. If you get premium pay, it is outside the CBA so you are getting it at everyone else's expense.

If by cost effective manner, do you mean paying the first officer $23-$37/hour and the captain $70/hour?

Republic is a decent regional to work at, but it is still a regional. The pay and work rules reflect that.

I wouldn't say worthless. Last month I had cancellations that took me below min guarantee. We had a completion factor over 98.5 and I got paid the original 81 hours.
 
With block or better and being pay protected, PDT line holders regularly get 100+hours pay a month. Add premium pay, extension pay, getting back to base late due to broken aircraft swap, and 110-115 is common.

I'd rather get paid 100+ hours for an 86 hour line, at an hourly rate equal to or greater than a jet that hauls twice as many passengers, especially when flying that jet for a month pays fewer hours due to work rules.

Think about what you wrote. DP is too. Believe me, I was where you are. Republic pay is too low. It needs improved, for sure. PDT has great rates and rules for an airline with an ageing fleet of Dash 8 aircraft.

It really comes down to where in the industry you want to be. I settle for the rate and rules to fly a SNJ. My move was a career choice, not a pay choice.

Starting out, perhaps. More like 1/3, for FO and 1/2 for CO. The pay is what was negotiated.

Proud? No, I don't think so.

Progressive company? (vs. PDT/PSA's stagnation over the last 10 years?) Yes.

Flawed? Yes.

Happy to have a job? Yes.

Happy to brand new equipment? Yes.

Well your actual numbers are 1/3 and 1/2. I was talking about adjusting for inflation, but with numbers that low anyway let's not worry too much about the details.
