Okay listen "bro", I think most of us really don't want to hear some first year FO (who actually differentiates between C-152/C-172 in their profile) preaching to others about how we're ruining the profession. People have been pointing fingers and accusing everyone they don't like of ruining the profession since the Wright Brothers. How much are you getting paid to fly that CRJ around Mr. Upholder of the Profession? The issue is not who flies what the issue is $$$. If we operate 190s for at or near mainline pay rates who are you to say we are bringing down anything? I will fly anything for the right price. Hippocrites like you trying to divide everyone into groups are what got us here in the first place. Saying we aren't good enough for larger equipment is no different than a mainline pilot saying they are too good to sit in an RJ (or a turboprop for that matter). Sure I would love it if all the flying went back to mainline and we all got jobs there and everyone lived happily ever after but I also happen to live in the real world. If/when we get larger airplanes you will gripe about it, and then as soon as your company gets them you'll be all too happy to fly them. I flew with an old ACA guy recently and he was telling me about how when they first got RJ's on the property some of the UAL guys were calling them scabs. It's all relative man. If you really want to better the profession why don't you volunteer for the union (if your company has one) and see if you can make a difference that way instead of whining about rumors that a company you don't even work for might one day get bigger airplanes. Worry about your own house and we'll worry about ours.

Oh thus you are whats wrong with this industry.... I'd worry about your g/f in my house by the way... that was a lot of fun bro!

.... All I have to say is its damn funny to hear the reactions by republic guys when you point them out to ATC as a regional jet... its almost like you just told them they had a small penis, they find the need to go out of the way to defend thier "Mainline" jet. As for the 170 vs an rj... who the hell cares. If I had the choice I would probably like an E170, if only for the forward lav and 2 galleys. That said, I get paid more to fly my CRJ then they get to fly thier e170, and that is the biggest determiner for me.

As for the overheards, the 170 is MUCH better when it is NOT FULL, but when it is full it takes just about the same amount of time to get your bags and board as it would to just throw the bags in back, but the convenience factor is still there, so I would say vote goes to the emb. No one can deny it is a more comfortable airplane, but more and more it seems the RP "Mainline" pilots I talk to are just cocky as all can be and need to realize that just because you fly an E170 for regional rates doesn't make you a step above the rest. For the cool RP guys, sorry to write this, you know who you are and I am guessing a lot of you have seen the same things I have.

Oh yeah, MESA SUCKS.

Finally someone who knows what they are talking about! About damn time there wasnt a bunch of tools on here!

Not necessarily true: When the gate agents do thier job, and the FA's actually get in the aisle and DO something during boarding, you can carry 70 folks with carryons and NOT gate check anything except car seats, strollers, etc.

I agree, what I meant by it is it takes so long for people to stop, grab their bags, and put them away that when you are just talking on a time basis, it is not any faster to put the stuff in the overhead then it is to just gate check it, and for those without carry-ons it is a whole lot faster to just have people gate check their bags.

Hey everyone,

I am sorry for all the ill will that my thread has caused. It was not my intention. I just wondered if there was any validity in the rumor.

Go Pens!

The reactions from the Republic Guys that you are referring to on the radio are from some of our "Rookie" 1st year 1000 hr wonder-lick FO's who think they are Gods gift to aviation. Sad but true. I must admit that it is a little humorous to see them churn and turn red in their seat. I just tell them to go change their Diaper when they are through having their temper tantrum and everything will be alright.

I'll fly a 37 seat TP for 74 seat RJ rates any day. Or more. Its funner up front, and who gives a ******************** about pax comfort?

We all know passengers dont select tickets, or what airline they fly based on comfort, safety, or reliability. Only the cheapest ticket they can find. I'd rather fly fuel sipping TP's and get the extra cash in my pocket and have fun doing it. Just remember, when your airline makes money, YOU see very little, if any of it!

I'd agree with you. I have nothing but great things to say about the guys who were at RAH before all the hiring boom over the last year. The guys hired this past year have really given RAH some what of a cocky mo fo look which isnt what the older guys at that company are like.

Most the senior and guys with more then a year experience at RAH are some of the best guys there are IMO.

Just one more ignorant statement from another "hater" BTW olympus, I like your pay scale.

I like our cancellation pay also....100% so far this year.

Talking about being ignorant pay scale is only half the picture, cancellation pay, trip rig, extension pay, premium pay, unschedule swap pay, per diem.
Anyway you should be proud to fly a F100 replacement aircraft with a contract that give you the same yearly pay as PDT 37 seat TP.

Where do you come up with this crap?? I make 10-20k more that a PDT TP driver, hold weekends and holidays off.(But it only seems that you really care) I receive full cancellation pay, premium pay when offered and if my schedule gets changed I'm paid the higher of the swap. Educate yourself before you open that pie hole.

I'm sorry, when was that last time you saw a F100 flying around....1995? Last time I looked at the calender it was 2008. Should I be sorry that the 737-100/200/500's are going away because you cannot operate them in a cost effective manner.

You must be a blast to fly with Capt. Bitter, I feel sorry for you FO's

www.airlinepilotpay.com So show me where I make the same as a 37 seat TP dirver?

That's it? Sure isn't anything to brag about. I thought you guys made way more money then that to fly that big RJ! Hmmm, double the seats with jet engines under the wing? Seems that would come out to more then just 10-20k more. Sad

But that is how the industry has gone.
