Pilots leaving Avantair for Twin Otter 135 Job

I would have no problem flying a C-172 for a job, if it paid well, was in a nice place so that I had a good quality of life.

Exactly. I wouldn't want to work at Avantair either, considering the first hand facts that many have relayed from being over there.

There is nothing "lowly" about flying a Twin Otter, or any other smaller/slower/prop/non-SJS aircraft. An ILS is an ILS, is an ILS....Get over yourselves.

As one old, crusty NWA Capatin once told me:

"The glory days are not here pushing buttons in this big jet. The REAL flying I did was back in the day, flying Cargo in my Twin Otter. That's what made me a pilot."

Some of us have 30+ years to sit in the heavies and push buttons, use the autopilot. Why not have some fun hand-flying the steam gauges for a while?

I only wish more of us could have the experience of something like that.

Hey FW, why don't you come over here to the Saharas and fly my Twotter so I can fly your shiny jet .

As far as the handling of an airplane that NWA cap is right, one do learn have to handfly well and take the plane into some short and tricky runways. That's a skill I hope I can have use of once I one day get into a bizjet.

Naw. He's flying a Hawker for NJ and she's on medical leave from FLOPS.

I find it interesting that everyone who's bashing Avantair on this thread doesn't work here. Been here over three years and still enjoying it. The couple who left wanted to be home every night and the Twotter job offered them that.

From where did you know them? For me, it was Grand Canyon flying back in 1990.

As someone that has worked for Avantair, there was never a happier day while I was there, then the day I quit! Now, I fly something bigger, faster, and I'm home every night.
