.......nevermind. Had a real witty response here that's better left out.

Rule #1: There are more important things in life than how shiny or big your airplane is.

Rule #2: Until you understand rule #1, you will never learn the joy of being content.

Exactly. Most any civilian plane loses the excitement after a while, and it becomes just like any other And for some of us, flying is not our life or identity, its just something we do, so that we can have a life when not flying.

I would have no problem flying a C-172 for a job, if it paid well, was in a nice place so that I had a good quality of life.

gotta chime in on this one,
some of the best flights I have ever had were in the Twotter flying over the canyon, getting paid for it was just icing on the cake

Hmmm maybe now you are starting to find the reason someone would leave Avantair.

There are plenty of god reasons to leave Avantair...

Just not enough time in a day to list them all.

I know a few of the people in this situation, and for each it was a great improvement in quality of life with little or no financial change.

Exactly. I wouldn't want to work at Avantair either, considering the first hand facts that many have relayed from being over there.

There is nothing "lowly" about flying a Twin Otter, or any other smaller/slower/prop/non-SJS aircraft. An ILS is an ILS, is an ILS....Get over yourselves.

As one old, crusty NWA Capatin once told me:

"The glory days are not here pushing buttons in this big jet. The REAL flying I did was back in the day, flying Cargo in my Twin Otter. That's what made me a pilot."

Some of us have 30+ years to sit in the heavies and push buttons, use the autopilot. Why not have some fun hand-flying the steam gauges for a while?

I only wish more of us could have the experience of something like that.
