CA Dad,
Don't take it so hard. Remember you're talking to NJA pilots, not airline pilots. We just got a raise, etc and when one hears "benefit all of us" so soon after something like the IBB, expectations are bigger than sim bays and aircraft equipment that will not be implemeted for at best, 3 yrs. Take it easy...hear the waves, hear the birdies...

'Terry, that's an interesting insight. I hadn't thought of the way that IBB would have influenced the pilots' perception about changes that followed soon after. I think you're definitely on to something. It probably would have been viewed differently, at least somewhat, had there not been so much personal, immediate-impact good news just delivered. NJW

I am sorry you're not excited about the 25 bay, world class, training facility or the new A/C, or the new interiors with all the toys, or the step program for captains, or the Electronic Flight Bags, or any of the other stuff that is coming. That is sad for you. I came from a far less prosperous company, where any one of these would be massive and incredibly good news. If you are so jaded to see just how good things are, compared to the rest of the industry, or any other industry for that matter,... well that is just sad.

While it all sounds very exciting I take it with a grain of salt. These ideas that all seem new and exciting, have all been made and pitched in the past, with the same oooh's and aaaah's that we've come to see from hanger meetings.

All the stuff mentioned has been "worked on" in the past. As the executive teams cycle through those same "old" ideas become "new". Also most of these takes years to implement. Take a look at the EFB's in the G's. Hmmm its not overnight? Shocking.

Its good to see a mission statement, and people excited, but this all won't happen tomorrow and the percentages of them following through are limited. But hey we're excited right.....

As long as other issues are not ignored..............

Expectations are nothing but preconceived resentments.

My post was subjective and from my point of view. It was everyone else that mad it into something bigger than life. All I did was to plant a small seed.

The 11,000 plus viewings has proven to me that there are a whole bunch of folks eager to watch NJA blow the roof off the joint. That pleases me to no end.:)

I did my best to show how everyone will benefit. I hope you all are happy. Really I do.

Trust me I am far from hurt. I am quite the opposite. The eager and passionate posts confirm that our brothers and sisters are alive and well.

keep the dirty side down.:D

You'd think they would have taken as much time to pick them out as they've taken to get them to the fleet. If they had, maybe they would have picked one......THAT WORKS! It makes a great wheel chock though.......

But you guys (450's550's) are lucky to have that fancy cockpit stuff. You can just use them as a tray for your catering. :)

Not this week amigo. Had a 550 with corrupted and MEL'd chart D-Base. Had to use the doorstop for four days. Good thing it was VFR and memorized airports every day.

Does anyone know the record for thread length? Or, at some point, do the powers that be on the forum just end it?

No but I imagine that stupid Island Air thread on the regional page is pretty close to the longest...God knows why it's never been killed off. Might as well just start their own forum..."Unhappy Hawaiian Pilots" or "1 million reasons to b!tch about GoJets".

captain dad,
as someone who flies for a company that does nothing to make the pilots lives easier, I can agree that all of the things you're talking about in this thread would make life easier for most....
hopefully I'll be in the right seat w/ your company before too long. Gotta hope....

Captain,

I am as excited about Netjets as you are. Nothing but good things to say. However, none of the big developments you hyped up were unknown to the pilot group. They talked about the EFB's, the NJ campus, the new interiors, etc. at recurrent for months. It's all great but well known. The only news was that we are building in CMH instead of RDU. Not exactly worth ten pages of buildup.

In all fairness to Captain Dad, he didnt make this a 10 page thread, we did.

And...

If NJs is confident enough in this economy to spend $200 million for a training center, then hopefully our job security is worth making our job better and easier. At least not stressing out about losing our jobs in the near future.

It's like one endless episode of Seinfeld......

S&S, good points! GSD, I thought you and I had a very down to earth conversation about the uniforms...;) Maybe it wasn't riveting, but it was friendly. :) Seriously, guys, building camaraderie--a post at a time--is important for all our futures. The more the two halves of NetJets can begin to feel like one pilotgroup now the smoother the transition will be later. IBB proved that there's much more to be gained from working together as one team. And practice makes perfect, remember...:p

WP, well said! I think it's good for everyone, from time to time, to look back at where we started from so you don't become complacent and take things for granted. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, good luck! :) NJW

Its all about PR. Airlines are hiring, growing and adding more planes till they are furlouging and parking planes.

I'm glad to hear we are once again going over the same goals that we've heard time and time again but with more fanfare this time. Yippeee

Its nice to hear just not impressive or really that interesting. Oh well thats the new englander in me.
