It's possible; MAG has quite a few fleet types (1900, Dash 8, ERJ, CRJ) and for the same reason Southwest has cheaper costs using a common fleet type ExpressJet may very well be able to keep costs lower.
With 270 aircraft, you've got almost 100 more than Mesa, and with those additional airframes comes large scale efficiencies (think wal-mart).
People like to point at other groups and say "your contract stinks! that's why you got our flying!" when really they should be looking at their own management for their troubles. We just fly the planes, the management are the people who make or break it IMO.
