McCain to lose pilot vote block.

Right now we pay for healthcare in a number of ways: medicare taxes, personal outlay for uncovered stuff and copays, and in a very real sense, you pay for it in wages because it costs your company so much to purchase it for you.

I know of at least 3000 pilots who work for a company who has stepped up for their employees and pays every dollar of it.

It's nice to be treated with respect and appreciated by your employer. But hey, what do I know, I just fly a little bug smasher around. The real pilots fly the heavy iron!

McCain gets my vote. Not a fan of paying higher taxes to support free government hand out programs. How can someone justify that people who make more money and are successful in life have to pay a higher percentage in taxes? To me, the fair tax proposed by Ron Paul is the most logical and fair way for a tax system to operate.

The real downfall with the entire government is the 2 party system we have. Hopefully, one of these years an independent candidate (ie, Ross Perot) will be elected with innovative and creative ideas instead of views that are molded strictly by party ties.

We as Democrats follow the belief that our country was founded on the principles of compassion and helping others who are less fortunate than ourselves. It also means protecting the planet, and beautifying our surroundings to pass down an even better environment to our children.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't get over reading that line. Is that what is being taught in schools today?

Those beliefs sound more like something that was taught by Marx, not Jefferson. "To each according to his need, from each according to his ability." It didn't work in the U.S.S.R., it won't work in the U.S.A.

If I'm not mistaken, our country was founded on, and has succeeded primarily because of, the principles of individual freedom and capitalism, not shared wealth and extreme environmentalism (which, while sounding good, is about as anti-capitalist a movement as you can find).

Why is it so hard to look back over history to see which types of government have flourished, and which have failed miserably? I fear history is repeating itself again.

It's so pathetic to hear Republican pilots cry about taxes. Where do you think the money comes from to send your kids to school? The parks and beaches? The infrastructure? The police and fire departments?...and all the other social services that you think are unimportant?

Take a look around. Our country is falling apart and all Republicans have done for the last 8 years is preach fear, hate, and venom about anyone who is less fortunate than themselves. Be clear on one thing: Republicans HATE unions. They HATE the fact that labor can actually stand up to their political lapdogs in Big Business and shut them down with a legal strike.

Those "loser democrats" as you called them, are the ones who support unions, support pilots, and support your right to organize. They support the working people. Your Republican friends only support Big Business, the HMO's, exporting of our jobs, immunity for those who help them break the law (read: telecoms), a so-called "Iraq war on terror" which is nothing more than a police action, and oh...let's not forget...Cabotage.

No Don, we call ourselves "big picture" people. We understand that the misery that will pervail in this country (both economically, morally and security-wise) if either Osama (I mean Obama) or the Hildabeast gets into the Oval office will be far worse for us and our families than anything McCain can do to Airline pilots. I don't agree with him on every issue but it comes down to looking at where the candidates stand on all issues and then making a judgement in totality.

I recommend for those who haven't already, go to votehelp.org and take the 28 question survey. It is an unbiased survey (backed up by candidates quotes and previous votes in the senate) as to where each of them lies. Once you get your candidate results compare that against what you THINK the candidates will do for or against our profession and make a rational decision.

I do find it interesting that Republicans are generally anti-union. It should be the other way around. The union-management negotiating relationship could be an excellent example of the free market at work. If government stayed out of the negotiation process (i.e. get rid of ridiculously stringent RLA rules and overbearing bankruptcy judges), the market would sort itself out. Overreaching unions would see their companies go out of business, while overreaching companies would lose the best employees and see their companies suffer, and the system would thrive. Pure free market capitalism at work, which one would think Republicans should endorse. Maybe it's time for the rise of the Libertarian party. Just a thought.

After listening to Obama's ***** wife say publically that she's ONLY proud of her country since HER husband became a presidential candidate, I'm in the "anybody but Obama" camp. Even Hillary's starting to look acceptable. It seems that she has exposed the Obama for what he is, regardless on how his spin-meisters are going to explain it away.

I can think of no greater insult to those serving their country, especially in times of war. She has deeply insulted me personally. It's obvious that Obama's wife does not respect or share American ideals. It's ALL about her and her husband.

Turned out as expected. Obama and Hillary tied at the top, Huckabee slightly behind, and McCain behind by almost 30 points.

You seem to actually be under the assumption that the Republicans are about capitalism and the free markets. That couldn't be further from the truth. Republicans only care about one thing: making their rich buddies richer. Free markets actually run counter to that goal, because it provides competition. Republicans would prefer monopolies that give absolute power to the biggest corporations so they can continue to screw the little guy. For anyone in labor to vote Republican is like shooting yourself in the di--.
