What's the trick to getting a call? I'm envious.

Wish I could tell ya. I applied last May, got invited and attended the open house, re-applied in Dec, re-applied in Sept, finally got a call last week.

I originally applied in 2008, re-applied in Dec. 2010, got the call and interviewed on Sept. 14 - now in Phase 2. Keep plugging away!

I just got the call also. I was hoping I would be at the Mid Oct interview but unoffically, it looks like it will be Nov 9th. However, I have one more hoop to just through first. I did not pass the oral portion of my first captain pc in 2005. Passed the oral and sim two days later. Back on line four days after that. No other failures. It looks like others have had CFI failures and made it but has anyone had a 121 failure and still got hired?

Don't worry man. After hearing I passed phase 1, I went 8 weeks to find out I passed phase 2. Then I went 5 months in the pool with no word before getting a call for a class one afternoon. The waiting is the worst part, but all you can do is keep waiting.

Congrats on the interview. Typically they do 2 days in a row of interviews, so there will probably be people on the 8th that have an interview as well. In the October group they screened 115 pilots over the course of two days. Probably looking at the same numbers for Nov.

(Math in public)230 interviews with an average of 75% pass rate makes 172 newhires. Average 20 pilots per month in class makes about 8-9 months worth of classdates, which would carry us into about June 2012 for the last of this group. I doubt they will interview more folks in Dec, but might do something in January-March which would fill classes through the summer. SWAG (Super Wild A** Guess) of the next application window opening sometime around Sept 2012.

There is no retirement list. The company doesn't want you to know how long it will take for you to have any real seniority. Even when you do, there's only a 12% reserve coverage so you can't trade trips easily or PTO (paid time off) trips, and you will work every holiday.

This past holiday season they sent out an email saying "Everyone can expect to be unstacked over the holidays and everyone should expect to work during the holidays".

Find another airline or career path. This one at B6 is a dead end.

You probably have all of the answers, right? Explain to these newhires how your company brings in $5 billion in revenue yet even with industry record low pilot CASM (1.13 cents), it just told analysts there would be "none whatsoever" increase in pilot costs to improve anything for pilots.

Yup, I think I do have it figured out, you work for a major airline bringing in $12 million a day in revenue and you're too dumb to organize for your 10% of the revenue. You're happy with 7% of it.

You have a shiny big airplane to fly and will work 'til you drop (75% of your life) with nothing to show for it, with no work rules except the FARs, and you won't stand up to management and say fix this now. You can tell me to do whatever, but you don't have the balls to stand up for yourself with an MBA suit who was dead last in his MBA class, because those are the only ones dumb enough to go to an airline to work.
