So you can imagine my shock when SWA changed the rules and opened ground school to everyone... Number 1 on the list is Lear 70. Thanks for fighting hard to make sure we have half pay to the last day while jumping on the first train to Dallas and diving head first into that SWA cheddar!

Good luck! See you in 2015.

Why were you shocked when SWA changed the rules? Are you also shocked to come to the realization that SWA would have changed the rules had SLI1 gone to a vote and been approved by both sides?

Actually two of the MC members jumped on the first trains to SWA, at least we don't have to listen to their BS any more. I hope you have the same angst for the MC that overstepped their bounds and put us in this position in the first place, if not, get on over to SWA, get your coveted pay, and assume the position and enjoy it for the next 15-20 years, you deserve it.

First chance? He's been bypassing for months.

Sorry, but you won't get that opportunity for me. For the same reasons that Lear is transitioning early, I'm looking at the possibility of resigning around the November timeframe, earlier than I had originally planned. With the "de-hubbing" of Atlanta that they've announced for this fall, the schedules just aren't going to be my cup of tea. Whether I resign early just depends on whether we have enough staffing to be able to drop most of my schedule every month. If we don't, then I'll have to hang it up before the end of the year. If staffing allows me to drop most of my schedule, then I'll probably stay until I can use next year's vacation in the first few months of the year, then I'll be gone. Either way, there won't ever be a transition class for me. Sorry to disappoint you.

Not coming over? That's is great news. I wish you well with your future endeavors.

Funny, you going after your buddies, Big Sis and Slick too for posting a recording of closed door meetings?

Can you show me where Article VIII would apply to that situation? I don't see it.

You only see a fraction of it here. He posts all kinds of stuff on the internal web board. It's a violation of a member's trust to post emails publicly that you received from them in your position as a union rep. Not to mention that most of what he posts nowadays could be damaging to the MEC's efforts to protect the membership.
By the way, the July 2011 email that I pulled the quote from on the AirTran forum and the 2 August 2011 emails I referred to earlier in this thread were not sent to my ALPA email address. I just obtained copies of those emails over the last 6 months (long after my ALPA email address was decommissioned). Why don't you get your facts straight before posting?

The AirTran Merger Committee Vice Chair referred to you as "little peckerhead" while on the record during his DFR lawsuit deposition up in New York yesterday. Other than our obvious objection to the adjective used in his description of you, I am beginning to believe his description of you more and more as time goes on.

Can I ask, why did you even become an airline pilot? Flying commercially in your teens, had to wait for age 23 to upgrade at Pinnacle, by this time already holding union rep positions (PCL 128), and then hired at Aortran mid 20s, which is soon all SWA. You went out of line flying quickly to union positions, and scored the full time buyout position. You probably set a record for young age at ALPA National as EVP. It seems you went out of your way to drop trips and not fly. Now you're still young, and driven for union business. So what is finally doing you in? Don't like the idea of being a 20 year SWA FO? Or the fact you can't be an ALPA rep/EVP at SWAPA? Here you are at a young age at SWA and now you are quitting this business? Good luck to you, I'm not sure this flying career was your cup of tea. Hopefully you can find a position at some union gig because that's where your heart really is.

That's true Flyer1015- but it isn't for many-
Which is the problem with many union reps and chiefs- they don't like to fly which is why they aspire to the office -
My question and statement has always been how can y

Nice tbc

.....how can you represent pilots when you barely fly? When it doesn't bug the hell out of you not to fly? But ok- lots of us look for time off- how can you represent pilot interest when you don't fly a full line? We all know an airliner can look awfully different cherry picking a convenient 10-20 hours/month vs 88/month after month after weekend after holiday, year over year, ad nausea...

Enjoy that office and not fully understanding the life of a line pilot
