Gouge from First Day 28 Aug New Hire Class

OK Guys...here's some gouge/notes from our first day of indoc for the 28 Aug new hire class:

- 25 guys total
- 14 civilian
- 11 military

...so I guess that debunks the myth that "FEDEX only hires military pilots"

- 9 FO slots
- 16 SO slots

...will be handed out via seniority (SSN)...we should know by next week what slots we got

...Training Dept is expecting to train 50 new hires in Sep & Oct, and then taper off over the holiday season to about 30 per month and continue at 30 per month thru 2007

...about 40 more new hire FO slots after our class...then concentration on 727 SOs...thus, next few classes could still have a mix of FOs and SOs

...with our class FEDEX now has 4,697 pilots

...retirements are expected to avg approx 100 per month for next 10 yrs, and then increase to 200 per month

Hope this helpful in some way to all still in the pool and those waiting for that interview or meet & greet.

Aloha

Aloha

Before people go berzerk, I think it's closer to 100/year than 100/month.

I do wonder how many folks will bail after we get a contract(over 60 guys).

Purpled beat me to it.

I thought maybe my new math was busted 'cause I came up with 12000 retirements in 10 years. I'd be thrilled to be the top MD11 Captain in 4.5 years!!!

Oh well. It was fun for a second.

Just bustin' chops here. Have fun in class. See you soon. (Maybe)

Is "0" the low or high social security number for senority purposes.

Specifically, would someone be at an advantage if their last four was 0123 or 9876?

Negative. the 14 civilian pilots you mentioned are just props that you wont see after your hub tour next week. There are no myths on this site - just like all the thousands of 250 hour hired United pilots out there. Those guys really exist.

class sizes and training dates

Looks like the calls for the last class (25 Sep) included interviews through 9-10 Feb. The next two classes in Oct should be enough to get through rest of Feb and almost complete March (based on approx 50/month through Oct). When calls start to go out for the Oct classes, could someone ask what the rough number of poolies is at right now? Thanks, it just gives me something to do while waiting.

Yep, my bad....the #s are 100 per year and 200 per year respectfully

Just an additional note. There was an intreview class May 24/25.
4 for the line and 1 corporate. All 4 of us got pool letters and I think the corporate guy got it too. Just thought I'd add that in.

Take care-
