Aviators,
A good friend of mine has been trying to get on at FEDEX for 3 years now. After a friend of his walked his info in, he finally got the call yesterday inviting him for an interview. If some of you might have the time, please share what happens next in the interview process and a general time line of the goings on. He returned her (HR Reps) call today, and she was out of the office, so he left a message. Thanks in advance for your help.

Ditto - all the information your friend needs is in MAGNUM!!'s response. Have your friend go to a seminar and use the sim prep suggested at the seminar. All the rest is minor details compared to those two things.

Call Emerald Coast ASAP (See Magnum Above). Also get the sim prep they offer. Unless you are a DC-10 pilot. Both well worth it.

All of the above... I couldn't emphasize any more about absolutely using ECC. Steve did my interview prep, and with the help of others there I was able to remember a lot of my flying stories that I had forgotten about. As for the sim prep- if you are flying glass for the past x-years... an absolute must! AJ will have you flying the -10 like you've been doing it all your life. Everyone I know who did the ECC has gotten on...

I got the call just a few days ago for a Jan 23rd class.... Merry Christmas to me!

Sim Check

Do all that interview at FDX fly the DC-10 for their sim check?

Lately I've been told the sim check is in the DC-10 - but there's always a small chance you'll get the Airbus or even 727........probably depends if the -10 breaks or not....

I did mine in the Airbus, but that was in 2000.

Does fedex put most new hires in an FE position? What determines it you will start of as an FO or FE?

The size of your johnson!

Now really: it is much like the military - the needs of FedEx at the time. Plan on going to the 727 panel - most start there.

Pay For Interview Prep?

what ever happened to interviewing on your own merrit, and experience? People on this board are quick to critize PFT,but are more tham willing to pay good money to some oportunist who aparently has the inside info on the process. If I was Fedex I would ask everyone if they paid for interview prep, and if the answer was yes,bid them a good day. As for flying the sim DC10 or Bus,all that is required is a good instrument crosscheck. If you have let your's deteriorate,or never had one we probably don't want you. Those who take advantage of people looking for a job rank right up there with KIT.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Rac,

With all due respect, you are being sanctimonious. I interviewed at FedEx, didn't do a sim prep, didn't do an interview prep, except my own, and have worked here for five years......I was also hired by other airlines.....

Having said that, to EVERY GUY that I brought to a grip and grin, or guy that I have known that was coming to interview, I recommended Emerald Coast. WITHOUT EXCEPTION, they all said it was worth the money.

Albie....(using his porn screen name) is not an opportunist. He gives a money back guarantee. He doesn't teach anyone "Canned" stuff or gouge, more than anything he probably gives them a little confidence. (That....and I also heard his wife was hot!) As a side note, I was talking to a guy in an un-related field and he talked about how many people need "Grooming/Coaching" and are rusty at the interview game. There are plenty of people outside of aviation that do interview coaching/prep/career counseling. They provide the same service...I also think Emerald Coast preps people from all careers. (Unlike Kit)

The only guy that went to the sim and said that he didn't think he really needed it was a guy who teaches a simulator (different type) for another outfit. "But", he says.....I would hate to dork up a sim and lose the job over $400.00 (or whatever Albie Gouges....just joking.... had to get the gouge word there out of context, and thought it clever cause I insinuate falsely that you don't get what you pay for at Emerald Coast.

I did it without all that, and in today's environment, I wouldn't attempt an interview at FedEx without it....as long as you keep it in context. I think that anyone in today's environment would be a Jack@$$ if they didn't stack the deck in their favor. Kind of like taking a stand against the fairness of the "Grip and Grin" process....it is what it is. I am not on Albie's payroll...however I should hit him up for a frikin commission for all the business I've sent him. PFT, pay for interview prep.....who cares...the question to ask is was/is it a good investment after all, this is not "God and Country", this is business. Every one I talked to seems to be a satisfied customer...but what do I know?

Sounds like there's a story here...

RAC,

Are you saying that if you got the opportunity to interview for your dream job you wouldn't be sure to stack the deck in your favor to better your chances? Especially when so many people who have successfully gone before you recommend it. I hardly believe that. If so, your judgment is as bad as your spelling!

So if you had the "interview of a lifetime", you wouldn't do a thing to prepare for it? More ballz than I... I wouldn't want to be wondering "what if" over $400 or whatever. It'd be like a team making it to the World Series and not warming up.
