You don't think he's going back to being a lowly line Captain, with a Sh*ty contract do you?

Of course not. He hasn't flown in many, many years, so no one expects him to go back to that. Besides, that would be a waste of the political skills and contacts that he's built over the years. I fully expect that he'll become a lobyist for some labor organization, possibly the AFL-CIO. For now, he seems to just be taking a break.

What's Randy Babbit doing these days?

He has his own consulting firm that deals mainly in the airline industry and with labor groups.

He never demonstrated a ounce of character while leading the Association, why would he start now? Get back in your cubicle at Herndon PCL. PCL doesn't work for ALPA. He's a status rep in DTW, hopefully moving to greener pastures in very short order.

Never met DW, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I haven't had any FPL in the past two months, and I've taken maybe 5 or 6 days total in the last year. My work for ALPA is done almost exclusively on my days off.

The "hero" worship of a failed leader such as Woerth is an obvious flaw in your character....Hasn't flown in many years? I have yet to meet a pilot worth (no pun intended) a $hit that could go more than a few months without flying...because most of us love the flying.

Take if from someone who has seen a few ALPA leaders....every one of them ascends to a position. None of them would consider going back and being a lowly line pilot. It would be beneath their "skills", plus they would have to go out and live under the contracts they either signed or negotiated. They would have to sit in the crew room and see first hand their handiwork. First hand from their fellow pilots who have seen their pay, benefits, and pensions decimated.

They would rather sit in an high priced office, wear an expensive suit, and pontificate to the rest of us on CNN or CNBC.

That's interesting...I was the Chairman of the Negotiating Committee for ExpressJet's last contract and had absolutely not problem leaving the world of full time flight pay loss and going back to the line....to fly under the very contract I helped negotiate. And now I'm a line pilot at another airline. I'd be careful about stereotyping so heavily A350....I know of many other pilots besides me who have done a lot of ALPA work who are now happily flying the line.

PCL:

4 guys is hardly a mandate....all that means is that they aren't in it for themselves/$$$ and those guys obviously like to fly. Good on them.

The only one I know of is Feldvary....USAir guy.

Isn't Wychor the Mesaba MEC Chairman? IMO, that isn't flying the line. Your opinion of course will vary.
