NWA is currently staffed for the announced 9s being parked. The ute rates on the rest could rise driving hiring on the NWA side--they haven't been that high historically. Keep spouting your BS.

Heyas Schwank,

Take a good look at TR's latest staffing letter. You will see that they plan to INCREASE staffing on the DC-9 by 50 crews over what they planned.

Just enough for a new crew base, doncha think?

2007 and early 2008 NWA pilots are BLOCKHOLDERS on the DC9 and the whale in the SO position. (But since a number of DAL pilots feel those positions are below them that probably doesnt mean much )

Heyas Super,

Yup, and lots are holding reserve on the 320.

We have already been down this road at Northwest. The Red Book pilots beat down the Republic guys badly with their career expectations. I can only hope that the Delta pilots not try to follow the same path. Honestly I think the arbitrators will be able to see beyond unreasonable expectations and look at our companies as equals.

Heyas RR,

Yup. The red guys really hit a home run with the "expectations" argument, plus laid the ground work for contesting every new piece of equipment for over 20 years. They gave the other side EXACTLY what they wanted, but, as they say, be careful what you wish for.

Personally, I don't think you're going to see a "unified field theory" for the SLI.

I hope that we can reach a unified agreement prior to the Nov 20 deadline, but the arbitrator's ruling would take all the heat from whatever decision occurs. That would minimize the future anger among the group, and hopefully make for a happier union.

Actually you would be right. Why would someone take a paycut to sit sideways or go down to a smaller piece of equipment (MD-88 to DC-9)? Second year pay on the B767 is $78/hr versus $58/hr on the DC9.

This month we have new hires (2007-2008) holding lines on B767ER NYC and ATL (it's seasonal they can't hold a line all year round in ATL). Not to mention holding lines in multiple narrow body categories.

And how many retirements will these new hires enjoy from the current DAL list in the next 5-10 years? Might as well get comfortable.

And that sir is the most important factor in the sli. Without a large expansion at the stand alone dal(which would not happen with the current/future economic environment) the bottom guys at dal would be bottom for a long, long time. Now, throw in our near term retirements with dal's in about 10 years and depending on where one falls on the integrated sli one can conceivably have some consistant upward movement that they would have had to wait 10 or so years for that we (stand alone nwa) would be just begining to experience.
