I had to stop listening to the 737.

People, if you want to get an emergency declared in international ops. Mayday, Mayday, Mayday seems to work quite well.

Have you flown in Brazil? For hours and hours over the jungle you still only get half a$$ clear communication with someone. It's a joke down there, they still live in the stone age with radio comm. I'd rather they put NY Oceanic in control of it and use NY Radio HF for relay than what they have now.

If accidents are a culmination of small events this will certainly support that statement. Very indepth (long read) some biases by the Brazillian Report while trying to remain objective but very informative click on this link and read the Brazilian CENIPA report:

Has it been determined where on the 737 that the Wing tip and Horizontal tip of the Legecy made contact with the Boeing.

Seems like little damage on one to destory the other.

CF

The point of impact is illustrated on page 27 of the English version of the midair collision final report.

The top of the B737's left winglet impacted the left tip of the horizontal stabilizer on the Legacy. The middle of the B737 wing impacted roughly the middle of the Legacys winglet.

I believe the Legacy's LEFT winglet cut the center or outboard center of the 737's LEFT wing from underneath.

The winglet "knifed" the Boeing from underneath which casued the 737's LEFT wing to bend upwards and detach, spiraling around the fuselage and impacting the 737's tail.

Hey 200- My verison differs from yours. I could clearly be wrong. Just from my recollection.

We posted within a minute of each other.
