ASA Getting 8 CRJ700, and Keeping 8 Additional

Not one person on this board is Giddy about taking Comair planes.
 
This is what i dont understand. ASA guys were jumping all over SkyW folk for taking 12 700s. Now they are keeping their 700s and taking 700s from Comair. Why arent Comair guys yelling like ASA guys? Taking airplanes is taking airplanes. It sucked when SkyW was doing it and now it sucks that ASA is doing it. But everyone seems ok with ASA doing it. ah, whatever. This goes to show there is no loyalty anywhere in this industry. It is definitely ME first whether you're at ASA, CMR, or SkyW.

Just a small difference here. OO guys don't have a union, to most us it appears they are just lying down for Jerry, while ASA pilots are fighting for a better contract. I don't think anyone here is happy about Comair losing some of it's flying but those planes left on an RFP and are not being transferred to whipsaw (could very well be the case though) Comair guys.

Hopefully APLA will keep a careful track of what flights are struck work when and if Comair pilot's shut it down. You Comair guys are not my favorite but I still hope for the best with you guys.
 
Let me get this straight. An increase of 16, minus eight aircraft that never left, equals eight.

So, eight net airplanes. This must be pilot error.

You spent 10 years at SkyWest and now your at southwalmartWest? Stick to your lcc walmart carrier threads. Delta, United, and all the other real Airlines wouldn't be in such a pickle if it weren't for trailer park wn undercutting everyone in the early 90's. wn started the slide. Delta and the rest do what they can to remedy the slide. Brothers at ASA? I have two blood brothers and I don't go to church with anyone from ASA.

No....the 'Good News for ASA' he was referring to was ASA is done being raped of our current fleet of aircraft by scumbag 700/900 flying for 50 seat rates Skywest pilots like you. So please allow us to be pleased we are done handing over our fleet to you, and not the Comair flying. Although, we all know you SKYW boys would rejoice in the taking of others flying.

I'm sure glad Pan Am is hiring! Can't wait to get that 707 FE seat so I can stroll through the terminal with 3 "stews" like Leo DiCockreo.

Maybe if I close my eyes and wish hard enough, it might be 1967 again.

ASA has not caved yet to a request for cheaper rates to hold onto airplanes.

Even though Comair still ahs the current contract, they did vote to take a paycut a week after sending ASA stickers that they supported us in our fight.

I'm not glad anyone is losing airplanes, but Comair did kinda stab us in the back.

I am sure that you must be aware that the "700/900 flyin for 50 seat rates" situation no longer applies. As of Jan 1st 2007 all 50 seat CRJ flying rates will increase 1% and 700/900 flying will receive a 5% override with an additional increase of 1% each year until 2010.

So, a 4th year 50 seat RJ Captain (for example) will get paid:

$61.54 x 1.01 = $62.16

if he/she flies a 700/900 their override will equate to:

$62.16 x 1.05 = $65.26 in 2007.
$62.16 x 1.06 = $65.89 in 2008.
$62.16 x 1.07 = $66.51 in 2009.
$62.16 x 1.08 = $67.13 in 2010.

Again, this is pay for 4th year Captains only, and does not take into account standard year longevity increases around 3% per year.

FWIW, www.airlinepilotcentral.com shows ASA's 4th year 200 Captain rate at $60.00 and a 700 Captain rate at $66.00 (rounded numbers, I'm sure)...

I believe I can speak for most ASA pilots. We are not the least bit happy to get airplanes at the expense of Comair. The stoploss of the 700s has been expected, but we have all been cringing at the idea of picking up Comair's ships.

Lets hope for the best for everyone and stand firm when the whipsaw heads our way.
 
It is very clear that most pilot groups will continue to suffer hardships because of SKYW.

What is clear to me is that it is not my pilot group that is causing others to suffer hardship, but rather the union representatives at other regionals. I believe we will probably be an ALPA shop within the next 6-8 months and I can only hope that we pay close attention to those we elect to represent us.

Did I say anything about Skywest??? Don't be yanking on my post without an actual reference.

We're all doing flying which is argueably someone else's: The Delta pilots in their view.

If you are part of a company which is savvy enough to go out and get some flying, fine by me. But I wouldn't advise taking a paycut or other concessions to secure growth, and I'm not saying you guys did, because that sets you up for a long slide.

We're all trying to make a living, but I do honestly feel bad about what's happening to the Comair guys, just as I did when ACA took that long slow fall. They are Union kin and it just plain sucks. And yes, given the choice I would rather see Union guys do any flying.

And I do not believe the Comair guys are getting what's coming to them because of the concessions for growth thing.

Ummm...although it doesn't show in his profile, Snapperhead is NOT a SKYW pilot. He is one of us working on his 3rd or 4th airline job trying to get back to a major. He knows what this game is all about and he is certainly not happy about it.

Get your facts straight before you start laying down the verbal whippings. You lose credibility otherwise.

What ASA is doing is bargaining for a contract that doesn't sellout its SKYW or Comair brothers and sisters.

You listen to too many flamers on this board. The majority of ASA pilots don't want to grow at anyone else's expense. We are PROVING that by not bending over for growth.
 
I suppose it OK then, that instead of SKYW getting the 12 70s, ASA is getting the CMR planes (plus their own back)--much better that way, keeping the flying in the union family. Maybe now people can start the scumbag ASA pilots posts about their stealing and moving flying from a union carrier...
