Bravo! Joe is spot on. 99% of the complaining being done on FI and the ALPA board are the same 20 pessimists. Compared to the rest of the industry ASA/XJT is doing very well. We're losing money right now but after the merger I believe we'll be back to be very profitable.

crj567 and others are here spazzing out about moving back 20 spots or so. Go tell the 10 year guys at Comair who are dropping from Captain to reserve FO in DTW how bad you have it.

Its exciting times ahead for ASA. Looks like the 700/900 will soon be returning to international destinations with the installations of the portable ELTs.

Exactly. The crew lounge at all airlines is notoriously known as the place crew members (including FAs) get together and whine about how bad life is or tell crew scheduling horror stories. That combined with Fox News blaring on the TV 24/7(no wonder you guys are depressed) is the reason I avoid that place.

However I must say the IAD crew lounge is an absolute pleasure to be in. Completely opposite from ATL.

Actually at this point there is no regional I would like to be at.

1 base closing
2 S3C status
3 $190 a yr delta pass and $200 a yr UA pass
4 Downgrade
5 Almost non-existent Performance Plus payout
6 termination of stock options
7 being back on reserve last summer
8 low time pairings next month resulting in #9
9 Min days off with min pay for March
10 losing seniority in my seat with seat reductions forthcoming
11 an obvios summer of jr manning and extensions upcoming
12 unknown future of the 200 (since delta hates them and we have a ton of them

Except for all those things, I am as happy as a clam!

Oh, and dont feed me all that business about "lettin' the door hit me in the behind" or the cheezy "well why dont you go do something else" crap because trust me, on my few days off anymore, I AM LOOKING!!!

And all you fellers that are "so happy" can yall explain why? I know, the paychech hasnt bounced yet, and fortunatly we're not shrinking, YET, but... what else you got?

I think if ASA is losing money (which I doubt), it's due partly to the reset and partly to the aquisitions; xe, aircraft, iad start-up, etc, which is to be expected. But I suspect, and have heard, that most of our financial squeeze is due to the budget ,inc. gives us to operate within.

Nevets has a completely valid point. We all know that 50% is an exaggeration, but how come whenever a pilot group feels like there are sacrifices to be made they are all too eager to have the junior pilots bear the entire brunt of these changes instead of spread the pain evenly. In time these changes usually affect the senior people as well. The ship doesn’t float well without its stern. I don’t think that we will ever learn that there are no winners in the race to the bottom.

I am willing to switch to whatever more efficient system the company wants to as QOL is not effected by the switch and the pilot group is returned some of the savings. PBS was one step. Dual Qual is the next and last step. Other than dual qual there are no other areas Im willing to take a cut. Except getting rid of duty rigs on naps.
