I still keep in touch with the boys from Willow at USA Jet. It sounds a lot like the newer management doesn't want an airline anymore and that is the end of it. USA Jet was a great place to work. Freight sucks all around, but unless you flew for more than one carrier and then came to USA Jet back in the day you would never understand.
As for who is the best freight dogs out there....well that is a hard one. I would have to say it wasn't USA Jet....mostly because they tried to play by the rules and treated the pilots with respect. But I think the best freight doggies are probably Ameristar. They really know how to push it. When I flew for Ameristar I was put in the penalty box a few times for landing for fuel and buying too much. I was told by Tom himself that you only need enough fuel to taxi to the FBO! (I prefered 1500 reserve in the Falcon) And then I wrote an airplane up and another pilot came in the middle of the night, ripped up my write up and took my bird....that's when I came to USA Jet. So there you go, you want to know who the best air pirates are...hands down to Ameristar! And that's why you are still in business and until the FAA comes down hard, which they probably won't or you crash another plane and kill more pilots....Ameristar will be fine. But if you liked being treated like a professional pilot, maintenence done correctly and flying good planes, excellent training, then you just can't beat USA Jet. If it's not your thing...and I met many pilots over the years that wouldn't fit there at JUS...some guys like the cowboyness of the other places. Then have a ball at Ameristar or Royal or where ever.
This has been a really great thread however, but there you go. The best place to work...if it stays in business is USA Jet. But you Ameristar guys are really great air pirates, which is a huge compliment by the way. Well now that Rasmark is gone.
Happy? Now move on!

And speaking of the true air pirates...what ever happened to Weaver?
