Ignoring the fact that you could just be trying to be "cute", which is WAY out of place on this thread by the way, if you had bothered to read the posts, you would have seen it mentioned several times that this does away with binding arbitration at Alaska and opens the door to "self help" the next time around.

Counting the weeks until retirement and a permanent goodbye to this messed up industry. This from someone who works for one of the supposed "good" companies. What's the use of being at a "good" company if the entire world is imploding all around you? It's only a matter of time until the burning bag of shat is on your OWN doorstep.

In all sincerity, thank you. I did not bother to read the other posts. I was not just trying to be cute. I thought the binding arbitration clause might be a trap that was hard to get out of.

You are right about the burning bag thing.

Ouch!!!!!!!

Yikes! Those rates are A LOT lower than I expected. The first year rate is close to the first-year JetBlue E190 rate - and that is pretty low...

When will the contract come up for negotiations again?

My sympathies to those affected by this most heinous turn of events. For a profitable airline (minus special expenses - whatever the hell that means) to impose a 32% paycut on a FIRST YEAR FO is unconscienable. One of my friends happens to be a first year there and I can only imagine how this will affect him. Alaska is (was?) a great place to work and I would love to get on over there but I would hate to see it turn into another United with bitter, angry employees who just don't give a sh!t anymore. Everyone I know there has always been happy to have a job at their dream airline and I hate to see that change...

There is no such thing as a dream airline anymore.

Paradigm shift, times are changing.

I am sorry guys. I had dinner last night with a couple of AK guys at Sharps and I do not think that anyone thought it was going to be the numbers that came out today.

Living in the PAC NW Alaska was always the dream for me. I thought that when Kelly retired that maybe the airline turned over a new leaf.

WTF has happend to this industry when a profitable airline starts cutting pay to the pilot group.

Good luck in 2007.

Wow, unbelievable! I hope the pilots take "necessary" means of letting management know that we aren't going to take this crap. I can't wait until next year when we get asked for the same thing. This industry just keeps getting better and better. What an embarrasment. I'm sorry guys.
