I am not sure what ALPA brings to Airtran Pilots?

What happens to the over 3 miilion in the bank of NPA= (given back to the Pilots !!!!!!!!!) right?

What has ALPA done to get our vote. ASA/Comair/Usair/CAL/Pinnacle/TWA...what did they do for any of them...CAL has a crappy contract and have been ALPA for over 10 years? DAL ALPA just gave more RJ flying away?

It took the employees of ASA to finally say WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH !!! The Employees will force the company to settle the contract once the pilots will not take it from MGT anymore. Employees run the airline. Not mgt. and Not the union!

Who will run the local chapter=The same people that have run for office in the last 4 years.

Airtran and Delta both ALPA-Who do you think ALPA has more allegiance to? 1500 pilots vs. 13000 (for now)?

A little paranoid there scarlet?

Air Tran will be a welcome addition to ALPA. And AT pilots will immediately benefit from all the resources of the strongest National PILOT Union in the U.S.

Welcome aboard!

Just having an ignorant tool such as yourself spouting off about ALPA makes it all the more clear they need my vote.

ALPA - Skilled litigators who have the inside track to Washington and how things operate.

NPA - One attorney I have never seen or heard from.

ALPA - Resources and history to pull from to prevent from making any mistakes.

NPA - Did you see our last TA 15 year pay scale cpt top out at 183 per hour......1 year FO was huge pay cut back to 38 dollar an hour. Does that tell you who they cared about.

ALPA - Mentors new reps. instructing them how to make best use of their time.

NPA - Gets into petty squabbles about this and that..

I could go on, Suffice it to say the biggest reason is we need good representation in the formed of skilled attorneys. They know how to write iron clad scope, work rules and successor-ship. If you have never thought about the first and last before mentioned items I rest my case.

GO ALPA - they are far from perfect but they're a darn bit better than NPA. IMHO

ALPA - The absolute worst lawyers you could ask for when it comes to writing a contract. They have no backbone and will bow to the company at every turn. Keep your 2%. It is not possible to have a lawyer worse than the ALPA lawyers.

Just by your comments you can tell you have not been to one ALPA road show. A lot of your comments were addressed at the road shows. With your comments above, you have not the guts to go to a ALPA road show and ask these questions and get ALPAs answers. You would rather get on here and rant false information. That is exactly what the problem is with this group. Guys fail to get educated!

ALPA is a perfect fit for Valujet aka Soultran doing business as AirTran. Once again ALPA can embrace former EASTERN Strike breakers and make them whole.

First Colgan now maybe Valujet. ALPA is doing a fine job getting their act together. Go ALPA. ALPA will make your careers much better and they will solve all your problems. I promise.

Sonny pick up the NPA contract and you will see that the ALPA language can't get any worse than what is published by the NPA. The current NPA contract is very vague! No union is perfect and I don't expect a magic pill to change things here overnight. But it is time for ALPA and the resources they have to offer at AirTran. Many pilots are afraid to get involved in the NPA because of the lack of support. I believe with ALPA on property, more guys may volunteer and offer their services. Regardless of what union you have onboard, it is important for the pilots to get involved to make that union successful. AirTran is still a relatively young Major airline. Our union (whoever we become) is at a defining point for the future of the pilots here. I favor ALPA for various reasons and believe that ALPA has many resources that the NPA will never have.

Hey idiot, the name is AirTran. Over 90% of the pilots here came from other Majors, the military, and the regionals. The majority of the pilots here didn't work for Valuejet (many of those guys left today on the property didn't cross a picket line either), that is a name of the past. Many of us don't think ALPA will solve our problems, but many of us do believe the resources ALPA has to offer will help us achieve some of our goals. A union is only as good as the participation of its members!

ALPA can't squeeze the RJ drivers any more so they are after former strike breakers...classic.

I guarantee ALPA want's AirTran more than AirTran wants ALPA.

Just ask any USAir Pilot how hard ALPA fought to stay on the property after destroying their careers. ALPA officers acted without conscience, morals, or integrety....they tried every anti-democratic trick in the book to trick and/or scare US Air pilots into thinking ALPA was the only way. What a bunch of crap ALPA spews. Good riddance.

And god help you guys if you start paying your hard earned $$ to thses a$$ho!es.

yup,its ALPA's fault for the failed policies of the airlines. Its ALPA"s fault that UAL went bankrupt(not management). It's ALPLA's fault that Usair went bankrupt twice(not management). Same with NWA and Delta. Its ALPA"s fault that TWA got bought by American. Its ALPA's fault that Comair went on strike(not management). Its ALPA'a fault that Midway and ACA(indepedence) went out of business(not management). You keep telling yourself that.

Its Valujet. You must be new. Good luck at ALPA. Like I said, Alpa is a perfect fit.

Good luck Eagle757shark. That is one cool screen name. Are those your favorite animals.

Hell you see I don't even know how to spell the damn thing. But I have been at AirTran awhile.

Excellent points!

Pilots want to blame the union when times are bad and disregard the union when times are good. We pilots need to educate ourselves on the purpose of a union. Not one pilot union has selected an aircraft, or selected a route for any airline.

Eastern didn't go out of business because of ALPA. Eastern had the worst management team in the history of the airline industry. Everything that management team touched saw the bankruptcy courts! In fact, that CEO was forever banned from the airline industry by the United States government.

USairways elected members who are also airways pilots did what they did. Now after doing what they had to do to save their company and their job they are asking for a do over by screw AWA pilots. Unbelievable.

Wow. Where did you go to school? You must be a green card holder. No way someone can write this kind of garbage. It is like some third grader trying to spell. Unbelievable. Any idiot these days can become a pilot. Pilots like Sullenberger are a thing of the past. Instead we get idiots like Max Powers who types like a retard and paid for his job.

Hey McDUche-bag,

How's your wife and my kids . . . . you nutless turd-polisher.

So where does the 3 million NPA has in the bank right now go? No answer

Why I should vote for ALPA? No answer

The "we need Change BS AGAIN" why are we running
to an union, when most are trying to run away.

over 6 years to settle a contract at ASA? Look at United? Look at CAL? ACA=great airline=ALPA really showed the company!! Ask any Midwest guy how they feel about their ALPA leadership? Alpa gave Mesa alot of support through the years for what kind of contract? To look in the future I have to look at the past of ALPA= NOT IMPRESSED !!!

HERE again the employees run the airline, not ANY UNION or Management !!

Go to a roadshow and get your questions answered. It's not hard to do and you will at least have a better understanding of the matter.
Coming on here and ranting will not help you.
Go to a roadshow, then make up your mind.

It's no contest for me, I'm voting ALPA, had enough of our present "union"

If it means anything, all the intelligent posters on here seem pro Alpa and the morons are bashing it.
ALPA brings a lot of resources to the table that NPA doesn't have. Like any airline, it's what the people do with it. Simple fact is, I would guess the same people will be active in the Union whether it's NPA or ALPA. Just that with ALPA, as I said, they will have a much bigger tool bag.

What will ALPA's response be to the several hundred Scabs you guys have???

We don't have several hundred scabs sh!thead. Get your facts straight. The few we do have will likely be treated like the ones at CAL, also an ALPA carrier. Go stir someone else's pot.

From my perspective:

ALPA offers us
- real lawyers who have experience with contract negotiations, holding the company accountable for violating status quo, making sure grievance process altually takes place...
- lawyers who know how to deal with the FAA when a pilots livelihood (certificate) is challenged
- Loss of medical insurance.
- loss of license insurance

NPA offers us
- a lawyer who couldn't fight her way out of a wet paper bag.
- A grievance process that is completely broke and allows the Company to stonewall and deny everything
- No loss of license insurance
- no loss of med insurance
- Those of us familiar with how the FAA can behave have to hire a 3rd party (usually AOPA legal) just to make sure we will have legal rep if our cert is ever challanged.
- some real entertaining infighting and petty bickering...

sounds like you need Insurance...=harverywatt.com

Actual lawyers that hold the company accountable=Just as ALPA attorneys have for United, CAL, TWA, Midwest= OK I would say that ALPA really gave it to Midwest!

I will attend and ask them about the 3 million we have in the bank, and what did they do for Midwest guys,(oh that is right the MEC supported MGT.??) or for the UAL,CAL guys right now=NOTHING but I will listen.

What committee do you sit on and volunteer your time with the current union?

ALPA is just going to be all fix all?

go ask all the ASA guys how long it took ASA and ALPA to work through the grievance process=yes 18 months. There are enough ASA guys here to tell you!

Or about 6 years of nothing, and alot of guys left and then lost the 15K bonus. (some left just a day behind getting the 15k, then furloughed at their next carrier. Thanks ALPA
