  • 1000 hours total flight time
  • 250 hours multi-engine

Air Wisconsin is currently accepting resumes for First Officer positions.
Compensation
Wages for Pilots are set by the collective bargaining agreement between AWAC and the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA).
First Officer
British Aerospace 146 and Canadair Regional Jet - $22.99 per block hour for the first year (146-$39.99 and CRJ-$33.55 after 1 year)(effective 10/01/05)
Captain
Canadair Regional Jet - $54.22 per block hour for the first year.(effective 10/01/05)

Pilots also receive per diem of $1.40 per hour beginning from the time of check in at domicile until check out at domicile.
Minimum Pay Guarantee
All pilots – 75 hours per month
The maximum a line can be built to is 95 flight hours per month
Guaranteed Days Off
All Pilots – 12 days per month
Training
AWAC does not require new pilots to pay for training or sign a training contract. Basic indoctrination is for two weeks in Appleton, WI. Systems ground school is held in Appleton, WI or Denver, CO for the British Aerospace 146, and in Appleton, WI for the Canadair Regional Jet. Pay during training is 2.5 hours per day at the rate for the equipment you are training for (i.e. a Canadair Regional Jet Pilot would receive $57.98 per day). Single occupancy hotel rooms are provided for each pilot.
Duty and Trip Rig
Pilots are paid the greater of:
  • One hour of flight pay for every 2.0 hours of duty
  • One hour of flight pay for every 4 trip hours
  • 3 hour minimum for each calendar day
  • Actual flight time
  • Scheduled flight time
Domiciles
Our crew domiciles include:
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • Washington, D.C.
  • Norfolk, VA

I don't know why they keep posting info for the 146. You stand a better chance of instantly being named as the Pope than flying that plane.
A great company though. Been rocky moving bases, but it's going to keep eveyone flying.
 
They can't be too desperate for pilots. I know many well qualified people who have their stuff in, and update regularly, who have not received a call.
 
Aggressive

Gotta be Semi Aggressive with these folks. I had my stuff in and never recieved a call. Finally I went to the open house job recruiting they held in one of the cities. Even if you attend that, they still want you to go for a second interview in Appleton. Even with all the time I have in the CRJ they still want me to fly they're computer game simulator. Whatever floats their boat??
Overall I am impressed by this Regional Airline, I just hope they really do treat their pilots well. If you're unhappy where your at, I suggest you give this company a chance. I am hoping to not have to commute anymore for one, number two they have trip and duty pay!!!!
 
Sorry if this has been asked before, but with the transition to US Air flying are they still planning on keeping the crew base in ORD? If so, how senior is it?

I think if they knew YOU were interviewing that day, they would have waived it, just for YOU. Your letter of apology from HR will be on the way. Another Ex-PCL 'Expert'. Dork.
 
Don't let their mins fool you. A couple guys in my class had 1000 TT and about 100 multi. One guy had 800 TT and 300 multi, but he was flying 135 SIC in a EMB-120 I think. One of the RAA guys had 400 TT, 25 multi and a CRJ type.

PHL, DCA, and ORF will be their bases as they transition to US Air only flying. That's certain to change in the future though...

That's true. AWAC can hire you if they want to. Send your stuff in and call once in a while. WC (ex-AWAC)
 
I heard Air Willie is very senior and it will be a while before you upgrarde. Can anyone confirm this? I know its hard to tell what upgrade will be, but how long is it currently to upgrade?is it closer to 3-4 or 6-7 years?

Unless there is more to it than I know, Air Wisconsin will not have a presence at ORD anymore after mid-November. They've been replaced at UAL.
 
ORD as a crew base goes bye bye at the end of this month.

I think the guys that are getting ready for upgrade are in the 3-4 year range at this moment,of course that's just today.

Expect this will start to run in the 3 year range. A lot of people are resigning, (160+ for the year), more than 50% of those are Captains. This is due mainly to somewhat broken "promises" by the company and people made plans and changes based on that info. When the lie was discovered that broke the camels back. They are activly trying to get those living around the east coast or those that will join knowing what is going on. The commute for most, (about 70% of AWAC pilots live west of the mississippi) is killing them based on the schedules and ability to acutually get to work.

Junior manning is rampant due to understaffing, commuter difficulties etc. If you live out east or figure commuting is not a problem then this is would be a great place for you.

as for the "computer game simulator", awac wants to see if you want the job by doing this. the sim is based on a king air i believe, but the way you handle yourself and the way you interact with the guy giving the sim is what they look at. personality and how easy you are to work with is what the sim is all about.
 
Do they hire folks at time lower than Mins? (Me= 975/110, Fulll-time CFI)

Seen lower time guys than that hired. I don't think it's as much about experience as it is about personality
 
Job offer

Received CRJ job offer below minimums (1000/250)

During interview they asked if we were okay with a 7 year upgrade. Due to their pilot losses per month, that doesn't seem entirely accurate, though.

I took another offer because I'm not a fan of Philly Cheese Steaks.
 
What are they looking for at these information sessions?? Are they doing interviews, or is it more of a meet and greet? Any advice on do's and dont's? Thnx.

Quite a few people showed up. I think that almost everyone got an interview, even some people with 800 hours. The HR lady said that the upgrade is running at around 3 years and 4 months as of now.

Do dress nice and convince them that you can pass training. Don't be a douchebag or a fcukwad. You'll still have to go to ATW for the actual interview.

Philly...

Any airline having a crewbase in Philadelphia should be handing out extra life insurance and injury liability wavers. Did my time there... pack your bullet proof vests, boys and girls. And a little advice... no unusual hand signs above the glare sheild... never know what that could cause! :laugh:

Are you going to try and get to MEM Atccfi? Man I wish I kept a better eye on our company website so you could have gotten to the one here in DC. They don't really keep us informed on this stuff. Good Luck Bro...sounds like this might be your chance!
 
So any idea how long to get off reserve? How about quality of schedules, are lines commutable? I know you guys have one of the best commuter clauses in the biz, but do you have to crash pad it or buy hotel rooms as a line holder.

Also wondering about how senior the DCA base is, or will become.

Rumor has it that maybe 3 months at max on reserve, but I'll belive it when I see myself with a line.
DCA went senior because of the ease of commuteability (if thats a word)

Better to get a crash pad, hotels in PHL run about $44 a night DCA $85!!
Schedules and lines are mixed. Some have all early starts late finishes others have one or the other. Commuting from some areas has been a pain but we are now CASS so that will help.

Here is the breakdown for PHL in NOV (lowest are CDO lines)

commuting?

Do many of you guys that already work there commute from MSP. WOuld anyone else have an idea on how hard it would be to live in MN and fly to work?

Pretty green on this kind of stuff and don't know where to start asking or looking.
