Age limitation for 91K

I keep hearing people say that the FAA is proposing putting an age limit on 91K. Is there any truth to this or just rumor? Anyone hear anything on this?

They had their chance when they changed Part 121 to 65. Should have changed it then to 65 for ALL compensated flying. JMO

Doubt there's anything to it. Bigger fish to fry. Like overshooting destinations.....

My father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate told me the FAA wants to put an age limit on First Class Medicals, 60 or 65. Anyone know someone high up at the FAA?

We need to start an electronic petition to send to the FAA that states. This line of work is a lot more demanding than 121 and, a 65 age limit is necessary. Anyone know how to get one started?

I heard the same thing at an FBO not too long ago...some other pilot was rambling on about how the FAA is pushing to not allow 1st class after 65. I posted this a while ago and it sparked a bit of a heated debate--guess there are quite a few over 65 still flying business jets for whatever reason (& adding to the fact I'll be furloughed soon); i know there certainly are at my company.
Personally-- I greatly hope I can retire before 60..at this point it will have to be in a non-aviation field.

Some people are not fit to fly at 40 and others can do it succesfully at 70 so why should it be age determined? I was a younger pilot once and thought age 60 was enough. I am now an older pilot one year away from 60 and I am as alert as I ever was. There has to be a better way than age itself.

Though when i am over 65 you can bet i won't be slepping someone's bag around. I am not saying I am better than the guys doing it now but screw that.

by the time you are 65, the normal retirement age will be up to 80 and pilots will make less than taxi drivers. So, who knows, maybe ya will and maybe ya won't. :erm:

1. Just like the airlines, if you are over 60 you should have to fly with someone under 60. Totally healthy people (or pilots that hired their illness) could have an "episode" on the flight deck, and the younger guy should be there.

2. Possible downgrade when over 65. You can still fly, but it's as an FO. I have read psych studies that do show that an older pilots use their years of experience to make decisions and react, while a young guy has to analyze a situation and depend on training. In the end, reaction speeds our very similar, until you start hitting "advanced" ages (65+). Then the mind and reaction time does slow down.

Just a thought.

Sometimes a slower reaction is a good thing. I'd rather have that than "Skippy the Monkey Boy" throwing switches.

I'm 33 years old. Personally, I find a mandatory retirement age silly. If the the pilot is competent, let the pilot fly.
