Honestly, I don't understand why more of us aren't demanding the heads of Obestar and Prater for allowing this. Ok, look, before the old farts jump my sht, I am way past the rule change event as a fight. What's done is done. I've moved on. But you have to admit, if anyone OPENLY forecasted the kind of economic malaise coming down the pike this change NEVER would've happend.

In 2007, I made reference to the economic challenges facing this business and the economy on the whole (on this and other boards). I was deluged by accusers calling me "doom and gloom", "Mr. Negative", etc. Therefore I subdued my commentary. I recall telling one buddy that I could just see this age-change thing happening right as the industry begins a huge furlough, the so-called perfect storm. Well, we're here. And instead of the old guys stepping aside, as they knew full well they were required to do when they entered their respective airlines, the youngsters, most of whom already have thousands of hours of professional airline flying under their belts, are told "tough sht!" They overall attitude of the old guys is: Loose your house, savings, security. We don't care. We're the baby-boom generation. We've always gotten ours and that ain't about to change. Suck it up kid (even though most of these "kids" are in their 30s and 40s).


While I'm yet laid off, I do sincerely feel for all our furloughed brothers out there. What is congress/ APAD/ Obestar/ Prater/ ALPA Nat'l doing for them?


FK all, that's what. But hey, life aint' fair... right?

So while the industry supports a top-heavy labor scale under massively declining yields and oil prices up 200+% YTD, our furloughed brothers and sisters are left out in the cold. A year into this downturn and not a word about it from ALPA.

This type of comment has been repeated, literally, throughout ALL of human evolution. And, it is normal, as evolution is change, and as times change, different generations are affected differently. Most people, because of our biology, fear change, and so people generally view newer generations negatively, in many ways.

To embrace change, which is difficult, but will enhance our functioning on earth, we need to use our intellect to overrule our emotions, which is VERY, VERY DIFFICULT!
