Hello Newman,
Please stop typing. You are embarrassing the SkyWest Pilot group. How is that BHO gonna work on a standup? What is going to happen to the "Split-Rate" when Jerry gets done with ASA, and beats your pasty a$$ down on the 50 rates? Perhaps you don't have it bad. However, reveling in others misfortunes is very unbecoming. Ask some of the guys who have been around a while how things have changed. By a while, I am not talking about your Captain, who has been around for 4 years. I am talking about the 15-20 year guys. Take off your blinders son.

SkyWestRJman - 115,000 is nothing to brag about. How are your FO's doing?

I'm at about 80K SO FAR with 2 more checks to go. Plus I work 5 days next month and will have had 200 days off this year.

Whoops, I just added it up and it's 78K so far including profit sharing and perdiem. Granted this is like being the least ugle kid at the dance but it is a contract that I'm proud of and wish others would strive for.

So why should I "strive" for a contract when I will make nearly 50% more than you?

I'm at 101,000 right now and I got two more checks coming. I pick up a trip at time and a half once in awhile. I frankly could care less what any pilot thinks of me or what I get paid. They're all clamoring to jumpseat on my plane and educate me about how freakin bad I've got it. I just can't stop laughing at all the crying that goes on on this board. Meanwhile I'm taking my wheelbarrow full of cash to the bank for flying a freakin 50 seat RJ. I'll clear 115,000 this year. Tell me how bad I got it again.

Sorry, got ya beat. And I know what you mean about everybody telling me how bad I have it, inside I'm just suffering. But look how good those ALPA represented carriers are doing, it's all sunshine and puppies and, and, and, you get a pin, and, and, a magazine. And all their members are just so happy right up until they quit their ALPA airline and come to SkyWest and pray the wonderful ALPA doesn't get voted in...........

I know I will be so much better of with ALPA, vomit.

PS, I voted yes on the proposal, if I had it this year I would have got nearly 7 grand more.

wow....LOL.....this guy is fun

I think this news just increased the probability of an ATL base for skywest.

Superkooter,

Management has already said unofficially that 11 900s will be based in ATL sometime next year.

Ask them next year when they are captains. Any questions? Didnt think so...

Quick upgrade, Quick upgrade!!! (to a crappy pay scale, from an even crappier pay scale). I think we've found the problem, folks. Its like little kids who are told they can get a shiny new quarter if they kick and adult in the nards.

Yes it would actually. Is flying the 737 any harder than flying the CRJ? Doubtful I would have to say. The cockpit is different but flying is flying. It would still be a 70 seater. The number of seats is the number of seats. It is what it is. It isn't going to generate the revenue a full 737 would and it certainly isn't harder work.

Sums it up right there. Hope everyone out there realizes that this guy does not speak for all skywest pilots...I hope.

And yes, I would call brad to voice my opinion, I've done it before when IAH closed. he's actually very receptive to individuals who fly the line. It's pretty easy. call the front desk and have them put you thru directly or send him an email on skywestonline.

Good for you!

But if you are making $115K plus bennies this year, what makes you think you will not be replaced by a eager 18 month upgrade making 1/2 that fine sum? The laws of economics tells us that will happen.

Use Comair as an example of pilots like you, being replaced.

The only way to preserve your pay and longevity is to organize with other pilots and negotiate scope that prevents your replacement. We pilots have allowed alter ego replacement flying to grow the size where nobody, including mainline pilots are secure.

Individually, we can't change things. But we can choose which side of the battle we will fight for. Collectively, we can bring pilots together and negotiate contracts which provide stability to both our careers and our carriers.
