United vs Delta: Super Bowl Battle in the Air---- article

Too bad the Super Bowl Champions had to stop on the way home in MSP. Even the losing Broncos got to go home "non-stop" with United.

    Delta lawsuit vs Alaska ?

True. But some on some days... "you have been rebooked, you need to go to the Alaska ticket counter and show them this for your flight to JNU"

    Delta lawsuit vs Alaska ?

It looks like Delta's marketing department didn't quite clear everything with Delta's flight ops department. Oops. There is a big difference between a public RNP approach and an airline specific RNP approach. Looks like one airline will be landing and one airline won't.

    Alaska profit

Nice to see a strong performance...especially beating the 10% margin for the last 4 years. The check in March will be bigger than last years and we all know that is what really matters.

    Opening Salvo AS vs DL

Clarification. We had 2 x SEA to ATL, but now we only have one a day. The PDX to ATL is just replacing the flight we dropped out of SEA. So same number of flights to ATL just one from SEA and one from PDX. I do hate our codeshare with Emirates though.

    Opening Salvo AS vs DL

Phew! I am glad I am not the only one that feels this way. Delta just announced a quarterly profit that is on par with our quarterly revenue. Beating back a few airlines from SEA in the past seems to give some a little too much confidence. The industry is different now and holding our own in the...

    Alaska contract

I don't think that just because you voted "no" you are a SNAP, or whatever that new firestarter term is... I voted "no" because I thought we could have done better. I had some concerns over scope and the lower end of our payscale. I still enjoy my job, I still want Alaska to succeed as a...

    Alaska contract

I like the line in the email... "The Negotiating Committee and Management are still working on administrative clean up items before a final version of the contract can be published." Uh, what? So it may just be a few words here and their, but everybody knows a "shall" being changed can change...

Alaska TA: what's in it for me?

AK737FO - For example...2nd year FO Pay at DAL $101 3rd year $118 with a 3% increase next year and the year after. SWA 2nd year $97 3rd year $107 and they are negotiating for more right now. UAL 2nd year $94 3rd year $109 with an 8.5% increase next year and 3% after that. Our 2nd year is $84 and...

Alaska TA: what's in it for me?

Would you be happy making 10%-20% less than your counterparts at DAL, SWA, and UAL(the main comparisons being made at the roadshows)? Would we even be having a conversation about a TA if it were captains or TOS FOs with that kind of differential? NO. So, since that is the case with year 1-5 FOs...
  11. S

    Alaska contract

Status Quo works both ways. Even though scope is not restricted in our current contract, Alaska would have a potential legal problem introducing large RJ flying while we are in extended negotiations over that specific issue. It could be seen as punitive to pilots for not accepting the TA and...

    Alaska contract

Another "Against" vote. Anyone who has ever operated in section 25 of our current book knows that what was "negotiated" and the "intent" doesn't mean anything unless it is written. And most of what is written is vague. The NC's explanations, if they are so great, should be written in the...

    Alaska contract

If the union and the company are trying to "sell" us this deal, the "no" votes need to be polite and vocal in explaining our side. We can't just let someone make a comment that is selfish or untrue without challenging them and trying to explain our position. We must be engaged, as this is our...

    Alaska contract

In the middle of a four day and here are some things I have heard in the crew room along with my commentary. "scope clauses don't work, so why waste time negotiating for it." -10 years ago very few airlines had strong scope clauses which allowed for the current state of our industry...
  15. S

    Alaska contract

Wow. Where to begin? This is scary in its complete disregard for FOs and their future. I guess as long as captains hit their magical $200 then nothing else matters. Scope should be number one on everyones list if you have more than 5 years left. Big RJs are coming and we just guaranteed they...

Skywest SAPA proposed pay package is out

Let's not confuse the pilots who were furloughed from Mesaba, or pilots who witnessed their jobs being taken by GoJets at TSA, or pilots who were employed for 8 months at ASA to see their SLC domicile close, or pilots who went to Mesa with 300 hours to build the 1000 hours before coming to...

Skywest SAPA proposed pay package is out

As far as regionals go, "I wish I was flying for Skywest." It isn't always about finding someplace better to work, it is about making the place where you currently work better. I am happy to work for a strong company that values financial stability. I think Skywest is a great regional, so I...

Skywest SAPA proposed pay package is out

I also think it seems a little fishy that they are trying to rush this through by offering a carrot of "if you pass this now...then the effective date is September 1st." I thought we were negotiating for pay rates in 2011. Now they want us to pass it and get the payrates effective 9/1/10...

Skywest SAPA proposed pay package is out

There are way too many loopholes in this pay package. 1. The MDG is probably derived from a formula SKYW management put together. They probably figured out that the Avg Min Day is 3:57 and so by giving us a MDG of 3:57 they really aren't giving us anything. They also probably realized the MDG...

    Skywest earning call notes

One list would be nice. We could finally have some representation at SKYW. Unfortunately, I know from past experiences that the intention of what is written in the contract and the way it is interpreted can be very different. Although it seems black and white, it seldom is and JA been around the...
