    Continental hiring?

You can still submit your app to "CALA" via their official internet site, flycontinental.com, at least according to the FAA's airlines certificate page. http://av-info.faa.gov/detail.asp?DSGN_CODE=CALA&OPER_FAR=121&OPER_NAME=UNITED+AIRLINES%2C+INC%2E

    Guard 121.5

Or last night, I kid you not, "My first wife was..." on a hot mic over the Rockies. There was a period of silence on the freq from ATC and the pilots waiting (hoping) for the rest of what he was saying. Spent the rest of the flight wondering. Rich, sexy, short, a CPA, mobbed up? What?!

    Guard 121.5

I googled this question and a thread on an Airline Pilot Central forum had a pretty good rundown of the issue. Overview: FDC NOTAM says we must monitor it if capable, and FDC NOTAMS are regulatory. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/major/46132-monitoring-121-50-regulation-policy.html

    Guard 121.5

I still do it as AA. It would be nice to hear the call on guard to not cross that runway. After 9/11 it was in the manual and a focus item on evals. If I recall the UHF radio in the military had an ATC+Guard position on the wafer switch so you could monitor both on one radio head.

    Guard 121.5

Anyone have reference for the FAR requirement to monitor. My company removed the domestic requirement from the operating manual and I want to get it put back in.

But based on this thread I ordered a "microphone screen muff cover" for the telex. Hope it helps.

    737 Headset

Go cheap and comfortable. Bose in-ear NR with company-provided telex boom mic. $300, small size, great in cabin as well, fail safe (if battery dies still carries audio, just lose NR)...

    United Transmissions

Yes, they do. But until the company cares (never) it's self-help with buying our own NR headsets and boom mic.

Problem as good as solved! United Airlines flight ops does whatever the pilots recommend.

    United Jumpseaters

At least the pilots know they should be asking. New UAL FA jumpseat policy: The Captain is not part of the approval process for jumpseating flight attendants and receives notification of their presence via the Final Weights Message [usually after the door is closed]. LCAL required FA to ask the...
